I don't know about that, but the first play Vrabel was in there the ref did announce he was eligible.hairic;3012983 said:Isn't there some rule about ineligible receivers having to leave the field for at least one play after they've reported as eligible receivers?
If that rule is still there, it was also a mistake by the refs.

Well, maybe Wade's habit of not attributing culpability is the impetus for this

Of course linebackers have to cover tight ends sometimes. But that's usually when they're lined up as linebackers, not as down linemen.
Look at the play. We had a five-man line, with the two safeties on the outside edges, three linebackers in the box and one cornerback following the tight end in motion.
The five eligible receivers are the two down tight ends, the tight end in motion and the two backs. You've got six guys in the defensive backfield -- three linebackers, two safeties and a cornerback. That's more than enough to have one assigned to each eligible receiver. And if you "know" Vrabel is going to get the ball, you might even have enough to double-team him. But you're going to assign one of the defensive ends to cover the tight end in the flat? (And he's your best pass-rusher?) WHY? Who are the safeties there to cover? Why not have Ware jam Vrabel, then have Watkins or Brooking cover him?
And if, for whatever reason, you're going to have your defensive end responsible for covering the tight end in the right flat (from the defense's perspective), why in the world would you shift your entire defensive line to the left and have your DE play inside the tight end, giving him an easier release to the outside? And least play him head-up, if not on his outside shoulder.

I have been saying that the past 2 years, that wade isnt spending enough time in practice on plays;
he didnt do it last year with special teams
now on defense
he didnt do it enough with blitz defense on runs in training camp, then he had to fix the run defense after the tampa bay game, then he had to work on the pass defense after the giant game
when is wade going to get into his thick head just talking about it and lightly covering it with the players is enough? YOU have to drill in players heads over and over on plays.
even dave wandastedt a very good defensive coordinator said, you have to run plays over and over at least 70 times for just one play for players to get down
its about time this defensive coordinator guru wade understands that
you cant treat these players like professionals, you have to work them;
over and over and over
NO MORE EXCUSES WADE, DO YOUR JOB!
