I love how the mouthbreathers ignore this. Wade said that the RW quotes from before left out the context of what was said before.

And tyke, you are probably the biggest media shill I have ever seen.

It baffles not just you

For a second there, there was a glimmer of hope and sanity. Then Jerry had to puff out his chest and be Jerry, castrating his coach along the way. Advantage: Bach.

LOL! Speaking of Bach where has he been? I don't think I've seen him around lately.

Like I said in another thread, alot of people are whining and bellyaching over nothing. Its only March the 1st.

Everyone clearly saw RW's playing time reduced as the yr wore on last yr. He was losing reps to Crayton and even Ogletree or Hurd late in the year. If he doesnt show improvement this offseason, TC and preseaosn, he wont be on the field much, whether he's a "starter" or not.

I think the question here is the perception of Wades authority not RW per say. Wade an already weak authority figure, just got made to look weaker in front of the whole world, not something he really needed. Consensus is Wade was correct in what he was saying in the first place. Jerry just threw him under the bus.

Even the title phrasing of the article is gauged to make Wade look weak. The reality is, he isn't, and that a local blogger intentionally misinterpreted his comments to dust-up a silly story. At some point, even our most dense fans will see through this transparent garbage, won't they?

Not to mention the fact that Jerry said the players should not get comfortable, yet turns around and all but guarantees that a high-profile underachiever will keep his job--production notwithstanding. Impossible to reconcile the two.

I guess TO must be rubbing off on Jerry, too.

But seriously, I think that comment is more detrimental to the team than anything. How can one man be above the team? That is the interpretation that I am drawing from this; that Williams, according to Jerry, will be a starter regardless of how he performs or who else shows improvement. If I'm a receiver and my name is not miles Austin, I'm now thinking, "What's the point of trying to prove myself if Roy is going to be the starter no matter how hard I try or how well I perform?"

It seems to me like Roy is getting special treatment and being regarded more highly than the others, which cannot be a good thing in the locker room.

I for one am hoping that this turns out to be much ado about nothing.

Jerry's ego is growing out of proportion, he's starting to lose touch with reality. No, No means YES????

And, in a related story, it was revealed that the owner's name is now

Jerry "Al Davis" Jones

Name 5 GM's better than Jerry. I will be waiting.

The ego shown by some posters is starting to bug me.

The good news is that Jerry can say the exact opposite a week from now and nobody will bat an eye.

That's what gets me.

Perhaps Jerry shouldn't talk so much.

"We've got to do some things to help Roy, to help his game. We've got to do some things with the way we get him the ball to enhance his game.

"We're going to do that.''
I interpret this as either one of two things: 1) The coaching staff is inept or was too lazy to do this LAST year or 2) This is just another attempt to keep the journalist hounds at bay until the start of the season.

What kind of mental state must you be in, to propose swimming events at the Deathstar, as Jerry did a few days ago?

I better buy my tickets quick.

Made to look by people that do not understand chronology. The writer made it very clear that he talked to Wade who volunteered that he was unhappy about being quoted out of context BEFORE he talked to Jones.

Wade Phillips has a long and storied history of playing vets for the sake of them being vets. People just have this Jerry the puppet master story brainwashed into their brains. The only puppetmaster is the Dallas media/ESPN who you can see has the mouthbreathers eating out of the palms of their hands.

Yes, and I'm sure that as we get into next season, if Williams doesn't improve, he will continue to lose reps to KO and Crayton. Like you said... that was proven at the end of '09.

The reason that both the coach and the GM are coming out and saying that Williams is a starter is because both Jerry and Phillips know that if they hope to get anything out of Roy Williams next season, they have to continue to stand behind him. By doing that they keep his confidence up and keep him focused on being a primary part of the offense. He knows his '09 season wasn't what it should be and he should be working overtime to correct that. All it would do to say Williams has lost his job is stir up a bunch of crap that the team could do without.

When the time comes, if he still isn't playing well, then they will put in Crayton and Ogletree and play the best players. They have shown that. Right now though, standing behind Williams is the thing to do.

First report by Calvin Watkins:
WoodysGirl;3288892 said:
"We are going to play the best player, no matter what," Phillips said.
He singled out Roy Williams' job as not being "fully guaranteed". However...

Second report by Calvin Watkins:
WoodysGirl;3291063 said:
On Friday, coach Wade Phillips was asked if Williams could he lose his status as a starter, and he said yes. But that could be the situation for any of the Cowboys' players.
So... why not convey what was (obviously) understood in the second report within the context of the first report?

Pa-the-tic.

Exactly.

This time a year ago, Jerry said TO was definitely not getting cut.

He also was "muzzling" his head coach, neutering him and proving once again that he was running things.

All of this, of course, spelled sure doom as we were guaranteed that 44-6 would carry over into a disaster of a season.

Oops.

Why go and ruin all the fun with a logical post outlining a sane rational course of action that any team would take in this situation.

Wade's a soft, enabeling, puppet. And Jerry's an ignorant meddling owner who's ego want allow him to cut William.
See much more fun.

He usually disappears for most of the off season except for around Draft time. Lots of posters do that.
