Funny, Bennett needs a talk and RW is guaranteed a starting spot?

9 million dollar reason why Williams will be starting, has nothing to do with not producing on the field.

I hope Bennett steps up. He could be a good one.

Jerry Jones: "I've got 9 million reasons why Roy Williams should be starting..."

Yep, and exactly the wrong way to think about it for Jerry. Hurting this team if Roy continues to start next season while playing like crap. When maybe Ogletree or some other WR could step up.

I understand the thinking, just don't like it, but, hell, it ain't my money that I am praying I didn't waste on RW. That's all on Jerry.

I think the Cowboys are trying to show support for RW during the off season instead of joining the media of doubt. I do think when the season starts his playing time will depend on his production.

Say whatever you want about Roy, he put out the effort and was trying. That cannot be said with the same confidence about Bennett. He dropped passes and blew routes, and did not appear to care. That is what this seems to be all about: Bennett does not seem to show the same drive to be a top football player as much as he wants to be an entertainer.

But Bennett has so much upside?! To me that just means he's tall.

Effort doesn't always cut it. He hasn't made any special plays that I can think of. He isn't consistent at all. He also blows routes, and drops passes ala Bennett. The only difference Roy "talked" about caring. Bennett didn't. There is your difference.

Well, that and about 8.2 million dollars or so.

Bennett could get by in college relying on his athletic ability but it takes allot more than that in the NFL. I really think the guy could be one of the top TE in the league but he has to show a greater commitment to the game. Hopefully Jerry and the Coaches can get that though to him

This should be coming from the coaches, not the GM. If he wants to make a point to Bennett, call him to the principal's office. Jones doing this in front of his teammates does not do Garrett or Phillips any favors.

Agree. I like the fact that Jerry supposedly jumped on his ***, but it should have been in his office, not in front of the coaches and players.

maybe this has already been said in private and no effect was noticed so Jerruh decided to take it public?

I have no problem with it, everyone knows Jerry is actively involved why pretend otherwise?

why pretend like that makes it ok that he likes to play the head coach role?

He is not playing HC it is GM and the man who pays these players.

I am pretty sure other GM's have talked to under performing players in the past. I don't think it's limited to just the Cowboys.

well if they did it in front of the team they were wrong just like Jerry was when he did that. that's the Head Coaches job. see that's the problem in todays NFL. people say things and do things that someone else is supposed to do because it's there job. Jerry's job as a "GM" is to bring in talent and let the coaches takeover after that. just because other Gm's do it too doesn't make it right.

Jerry's job is whatever the hell he wants it to be. He writes the checks. I have my own small business and had to step in on occasion when there were issues. It happens. My point being what your version of what a GM should do and what others may think can be different. It's OK. But trust me if there is a major problem the guy paying the bills will want to be involved.

that thinking is ok for running a small business not a billion dollar sports franchise. but regardless i'm done talking about this. we have 2 different opinions on Jerry and the way he does things.
