What Does Barber's Future Hold?

This morning, the local Fox affiliate confirmed a tip we got that the souped-up Impala available on eBay belongs to Cowboys running back Marion Barber, who has been seen driving it in Dallas' Uptown district.

That would seem to confirm the idea that whoever is selling the classic car is looking to downsize for financial reasons related to the lockout and his individual playing future. Expectations are that the Cowboys will release Barber at some point after the NFL lockout concludes.

I expect Barber will be released but I have no doubt someone will pick him up.

Not playing here. I'm not even sure about anyone else. He doesn't have much upside anymore.

Considering the total value of his contract, I'm surprised the savings in releasing him would only be $2.75 million. I expected the savings to be more.

Jason Garrett sure doesn't sound like a guy who is ready to release Barber. In fact, he sounds just the opposite. He listed Barber number 2, twice when talking about the running backs. He talked about competition and specifically seeing what backs 2-4 could do. I'm starting to get the feeling that Barber will be back, and Dallas will probably not carry four running backs. The third RB has to play special teams. Do the math there.

I know Galloway and Mosley have always said that Garrett loves Barber more than people realize, and to not be surprised if he's back this year...

Jerry gave him a too big of a signing bonus. Cap hit.

I wonder if Garrett sees Barber filling a Richie Anderson type role on this team.

What Does Barber's Future Hold? Probably playing football but not in a Dallas Cowboys uniform.

Or maybe he wants to get rid of the car.

But, if we're gonna jump to conclusions.......maybe he's a serial killer and transported dead bodies in the trunk.

I've stated that if Marion Barber goes, Roy E. Williams goes. I can't see Garrett getting rid of Barber and having to keep Williams. Again, if Garrett is planning on playing without Marion Barber, he has a funny way of showing it. I bet Barber is on the team next year.

I really want another guard in free agency. Mark Colombo is probably the only lock not to return. He just can't play anymore. He is literally done.

good glad to see someone else agrees

the both should be out on the streets

so who does he get rid off Choice or Felix ?

so you keep MBIII in 2011: $4.25 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus duew 6/3

an let Choice walk ? 2011: $555,000

surely hes not keeping 4 RB's

Sadly the more I think about it, I think choice is the odd man out. I just get a feeling he has burned some bridges.

No. U drop barber and keep Murray. No need to get rid of anyone else.
