Dallas is always slow with making changes because for them it is usually permanent. IMO they are trying to get Moore to compete and give him a chance to keep the #2 position.

I still think they plan on keeping all three QBs, but it sounds like they're at least looking at that QB3 roster spot in case they need it.

I hope the competition is between Moore and McCown. I think you need a vet in the QB room just for the sake of the coaches collective sanity.

Does anyone really think the Cowboys can go into the season with just second and first year QBs on the roster? The thought of that makes me uneasy. There is so much to the position that both Dak and Cooper just don't know.

I would love for Cooper Rush to win the backup job. I think he's already earned it with his play. That would be so satisfying, especially after listening to Babe Laufenberg say there's no way he will be the backup QB.

I think they are saying that to not hurt Moore's feelings while he is still on the team or to at least make it seem like he still has a chance but there is no way. It's not even close. Rush won the battle 42-14....

Backup QB is about more than just who plays better, necessarily. They're going to be looking at the makeup of the QB room, at who they think can finish a game with only a handful of reps during the week. They may well want to park Rush for a year to work on everything instead of having him responsible for the game plan each week. They may not want the dynamic of having two really young players as QB1 and QB2.

There can be any number of reasons why they want Kellen Moore on the roster. Despite Rush's good game again this week, I still think it's likely they don't roll with just a rookie and a 2nd year starter. They'd have to really need that roster spot for that to make sense for them.

3 Qb's really, what for? Send Moore packing as fast as possible, don't even waste a practice roster spot with this guy. One of the worst Qb's I have ever seen in the NFL. He is not even fit for the Lingerie league.
