I'd take a fantastic 3 if we trade down in R1 but I'd rather take an edge rusher and DE in R1 and R2 if we go DL there.

Round 1 and 2 for defensive end, would be a bit much, but I would take one of the upward pegged small school players that are being projected high up...around 3. There are too many good defensive tackles to pass that position in this draft. Use the second round 2 to take a cornerback, safety...or land a running back or wide receiver.

Well the back brain had visions of him beating out Velcro and that didn't quite work out. I have a much better feeling about Thornton. If he is any good he'll likely unseat DLaw and become my favorite player on defense.

I really like the add, and he's not a senior type of journeyman. He has life in his legs, and not a lot of torn muscle.

The 1T only plays 25% of the snaps? I think Nick played more than 255 of the snaps?

That was the criminal part of the entire Hayden era. He played a lot of snaps as was so woefully ineffective. Yet he hung around, unchallenged until free agency actually forced our hand. Other than that, he "graded out" and was a fixture.

We need to get a really good young DT out of this incredibly DT rich draft pool, period.

We probably will ignore it thinking Thornton fixed everything. After all, we have McClain as "quality depth".

Is he hungry? Will this be a breakout year for a guy wanting to get paid? Players like this are why they should increase the roster, he's good enough to want to keep but if he gets injured again he's just taking up space for a low round draft pick. Better than Hayden, just jinxed with fluke injuries...

He was never that good in Houston. Broaddus has really oversold this guy with the fan base. His 10 tackles is not worth waiting 2 years for.

Hoping we draft a 1tech that puts this guy deep in the rotation or on the curb.

I think Broaddus has done an equally undersell on Bosa. If we take him, I hope the fanbase doesn't destroy the kid before he even wears the Star. He may not be JJ Watt, but he made a LOT of plays in the backfield, even against double teams. He'd be our best DE day 1, imo, and could be better than some on here think. All that said, I'd rather have Ramsey, but I can't see Ramsey making it to #4.

Maybe in a jumbo package. They aren't gonna put a non pash rusher at 3 Tech. If we get a 1 Tech, it probably wont be until very late in the draft or a UDFA, considering the starting 1 Tech plays about 25% of the snaps. That player would probably have a very good shot at making McClain expendable

Now another 3 Tech. Thats a different story A 3 Tech would be in play in the first round if one was available. However outside of maybe Buckner they're really isnt a player you can project at 3 Tech. A good chance we spend our 2nd or 3rd rounder on one IMO

I agree with all of this.

Too bad this guy can't make it off the bus without sustaining some type of injury. He's a good backup for 10-15 snaps. Plays with a lot of energy.

He's been in the league 6 years. I don't sense any hunger anymore. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

He's kind of the Sean Lee of the DL... if he plays more than 8 games, we're lucky.

I agree with the 8 game part, but Lee brings a little more to the table when he's on the field. At his best, McClain is a rotational guy. At his best, Lee is in the pro bowl discussion.

In 15 games with the Cowboys since 2014, McClain has 19 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

While DT isn't a glamourous position when it comes to stat sheet, I'm not sure this guy would help any more than the next best camp body.

The best thing this guy has going for him is the fact that he's not Nick Hayden.
