Deadskins Depth Chart

I could see McNabb targeting Cooley against our LBs.

If he ever gets that match-up. Sure.

Here's how I see us playing the skins and there's no magic formula needed here.

First off, we're not going to do the same thing over and over again. We'll change it up for change sake and to keep McNabb guessing.

I don't see a lot of blitzing from us Sunday night. We have the talent advantage and when you do, the need to take risks diminish.
Why give them shots at big plays? Make them earn it. Show me you can go 8-10 plays against our defense, then I'll take more chances to force the issue.
Until then, I'm sending no more than 5 rushers and most of the time 4.

I'm also looking to play pass first. I think they will look to run the ball, but show me you can first. Until then, I'm shooting gaps and attempting to get up the field after McNabb with 4 guys playing run on the way to the QB.

We have a nice advantage with Jenkins and Newman in single coverage against Moss and Galloway. But that doesn't mean we won't or shouldn't mix in some cover 2 and zone.

The one constant I'd like to see in every defense called is a little extra attention for Cooley. He is their best weapon and may be McNabb 1st read on a lot of plays. Take him out of the equation and make McNabb beat you somewhere else.

This will NOT be easy.

The Commanders always play us tough. I know we dominated the second game last year defensively, but we really had a hard time getting anything against them offensivley.

We have to protect Romo and he must protect the ball.

I think back to the games they've whupped us at Fed EX. They were able to jump out and capitalize on early TOs.

Romo's been skittish in the pocket lately...I'm a little nervous about him and our OL. If we can protect him, then I think the game really opens up for us.

BIG.....

But I see us struggling to protect him. It's going to be a dog-fight.

Nailed it. 17-0 Boys

I can see McFlabb to Moss burning us once in this game, but again he will live and die on the deep ball.

when you have score 20 points in every game against someones defense that is pretty darn good.

I think Elway, Rod Smith, Easy Ed McCaffery, TD & Shannon Sharpe had a lil something todo with that. U may be giving
Shanny a bit much credit.

it will be an emotional night for them. there is alot riding on this game for that organization and that city. A win validates everything they have done in the offseason.

Emotion can make guys play better, faster and more focused.

and I disagree, they are more than capable of scoring 20 and on top of that they always force turnovers on us.

Bro. I'm in DC & you are higher on their offense than they are?

I am a worry wart.

But I also am of the belief that emotion is as big as talent on alot of sundays and what they lack in talent they may make up for in emotion this particular sunday.

I don't think it's any different than any other opening night.

Emotions work both ways Theebs. We get up early & it all goes away. No doubt, the 1st couple of drives will b electric. However, after that, talent normally takes over. We have more talent. Shanny is a good coach, but McNabb is no Elway. And Portis is Terrell Davis.

Plus. This is a new offense & a new defense. As for Defense, we practice against the 3-4 for the last 4 seasons. Our Off knows more about the 3-4 than their Def. Huge Advantage to us.

At first glance, that's an old offense.
and one that does not scare me one bit.

I would be blitzing and playing tight man all night.

If McNabb can only score one touchdown on us in two games with the eagles offense, then with the Commanders he will be scoring points for us.

Thats Sk*ns WR corps is garbage. Their roster is pretty bad. And Shanahan's records in limited games with both coaches on different teams is hardly relevant. We should roll WAS, on paper. Given that they play up for us and that anything can happen on opening weekend, it's far from a lock, but this is a game we should win handily.

We're pretty good on opening weekend under Wade. I think this is a W.

I saw in the washington post today an article that showed that shanahan is 5-3 all time against wade and that he has never failed to score at least 20 points in any of the games.

so It appears shanahan has wades number, combine that with the unkown defense and the environment and this is one of the tougher games of the year.

Mentioning a shutout seems beyond crazy.
Is that 5-3 with or without Elway and Davis? It's without now.

We should destroy them. However, they gotta a damn good coach and don't think he won't come up with a game plan that will work. Think lots of screen's to the running backs and no doubt a trick play or two. Flea flicker perhaps. I think its going to be very tough. I've been to a game in that stadium. Those fans rock the house down. Emotion will play a big part in this game.

We have issues at least once a year with Washinton, regardless of how bad they are, I don't expect this year to be any different. Starting off the season with a win would be great though, for one we get some confidence out the gate.

Secondly I don't have to not-listen to sports radio and they extole the virtues of the "New Commanders" and the demise of the Cowboys.
