Moore's problem is that has Jerry shoving Zeke down his throat. Only thing I can think of.

If you are forced to feature a slow, plodding, predictable running back then your offense becomes much easier to slow down and defend.

My biggest problem with him is that I thought we were past where we were going to hear our opponents make a point of telling the media that they knew what we were going to do and when.

If there's going to be situations where, as an example, we always run when a certain pre snap motion is used, it's not gonna end well.

That happened with Garrett plenty. Then I realize who Moores mentor was. Maybe Garrett hasn't truly left the building.

I'm not overly down on Moore, but the predictability can't be there....one way or another.

Now that this is out there, I'm hoping something is done to correct it. Never seemed to happen with Garrett. Heard it plenty in 2019.

Knowing Zeke is going to be carrying the ball, and all he can do is dive up the middle, you can now take your two safeties and put them in a two deep zone. Now this is affecting our ability to make big plays in the passing game. Featuring Zeke takes us out of what we like to do. Makes us predictable and one dimensional.

I could see this team trading up for a Left Tackle, but I don't think it'll be that high.
Penning or Cross should make it to the late teens, and IIRC Dallas-per twitter rumors are high on Penning.

Cross is going way higher than you expect if you think he may make it to the late teens. He's probably not getting out of the top 10.

Yea, you're probably right. Keep forgetting the QB class isn't top heavy so there won't be the 2-3 being taken top 5-8 which means there's an run on the prospects who are actually deserving of that high draft pick.

My comment was really towards Penning but I have seen some mocks where Cross falls to the 10-15 spot.

All the young players drafted over the last several year will continue to get better. Moving out the overpaid old guys and making room for the young talent.

Lets take a guy like Diggs. His rookie year he played half the season and made a few picks. 2nd year he led the NFL with 11 picks.

These arent wild concepts. All football 101 type stuff.

But you can continue to cry if you want.

I'm saying the cowboys roster has gotten considerably worse to this point, and since they've been extremely inactive thus far in free agency, the odds of them improving, or even getting back to even via the draft are extremely slim, especially given their draft position. Who are the guys other than Diggs that you're expecting to make the Diggs leap? Micah is already an All Pro and DPOY runner up, he's got a tall order just to remain consistent. Ceedee I hope really makes the leap this year, but even still if he does will just be off-setting the loss of Coop. Who else you looking to? Joseph has a whole heap of obstacles to overcome, Trysten Hill? LVE? McGovern? Where's the burgeoning talent we're going to need to rely on?

Most well run teams draft guys and then churn the roster, not the opposite way. Find me an article anywhere that praises the Cowboys offseason thus far. Please. Because at this point we're putting an awful lot of responsibility on the shoulders of Dante Fowler

Oh thats for sure. No home run ability whatsoever.

Definitely plays into it. I'm looking forward to that position being entirely remade by the start of 2023.

there are phases to the off-season, yeah? there have been substantial happenings right? if they’d made good moves to this point (good in the eyes of others) like signed bobby wagner to a great contract, or managed to trade amari for a first or whatever random hypothetical, would it be premature to be happy with the off-season?

they can potentially salvage it and i’ll be the first to applaud if they do, but it’s entirely valid to have a perspective on what’s transpired

That wagner contract wasnt a good one. Im glad they didnt do that one. Rams are in a different spot then we are at this point. They have given away all their top draft picks over the next couple years so they are forced to overspend on FA.

I completely agree that the Cooper trade was a joke. Jerry is a complete loser when it comes to trades.

Personally I like that they moved on from Cooper and Collins. I think those are great moves. Now Im not going to sit here and tell you we are more talented without Cooper. But using his money on another position is smart. Cowboys will be better off in the next few years without Cooper and that contract and without Collins. Eventually this money will be better spent.

i don't like wagner's contract either, i was saying hypothetically if they had signed him to a good deal to illustrate that it wouldn't be premature to be happy / excited about the offseason so conversely there's no reason we can't be disappointed so far.

perhaps drafting a guard will improve the line, but they lost collins and williams (both were starters) that's forcing a need. may turn out to be for the best, but also, keeping one or both, and signing someone in free agency allows you to get a different impact player in the first. I'm just not thrilled with how they've gone about things so far. And not being more talented w/ out cooper (or gregory) is essentially what i'm referring to. we lost a talented receiver, and seeing what the browns did with his contract (that we could have done also) stings, and that's before factoring how insane the wr market has just exploded. Collins, i think had to go, i'm fine with it. cutting him, losing randy, restructuring cooper, I think i could be satisfied with and hope the draft brings in some young guns to revamp the line. But all of the moves together are worrisom. anywho, nothing I can do about it, hope the draft is a strong one

See I like the moves they are making. I feel like they are the right ones. Steele played better than Collins the first half of the year. Williams was terrible. Good riddance. We need to use a first on the Oline. Its time. Tyron Smith needs replacing also. Whether that is next year or the year after.

Randy it does suck to lose, but its not like losing Lawrence. I like who they did keep. Resigning Gallup for a bargain price, keeping Shutlz and Kearse. Those were the big ones for me.

So for me, if they take a guard in the first and a DE in the 2nd, then we are looking good.

It did pigeon hole us a bit that we are almost forced to do that.

This is simply fantasy as our front office has been beyond conservative… Still, I wonder how everyone’s opinion of our off-season would change if we were able to trade up and pick Evan Neal (if he slipped outside of the top 5) to be our plug and play Guard/future LT (2022 1st and 3rd, 2023 1st) and then trade a 2022 2nd for Debo Samuels. Would this make us more potent than last year? Would we be a better team? I very much recognize that this is fantasy, as our front office has literally done squat.

That would be great, and I agree. But the Cowboys do not have the draft capital to do that. You're overestimating the value of our picks. You're probably going to have to come in stronger than that to move from 24 to 6. Deebo will also require a first too.

But I'd do it for what you're offering.

Moving from 24 to top ten is not possible. Only seen it done a few times and it would cost the cowboys 3 first round picks. I don't care who the player, you wouldn't trade 3 first round picks....

Neal would never fall out of top ten nor top 5 for that matter.

I agree. I think our losses were minimal. The draft and player improvement can easily make up for it. I think people are just disappointed in our lack of participation in FA.

i would love to watch fans celebrate this in the offseason and then the board implode when he's constantly injured. He had a relatively injury free campaign last year but he had trouble his first two years. He's dez with sean lee's ailments. he would be loved here for about as long as it took him to get an injury.

Neal is one of the best players in the draft and a franchise LT for a decade. Only thing better would be a franchise QB and this draft doesnt have one. Wouldnt change my opinion of the offseason. The team is still owned by the Jones family so the ceiling is wild card round of playoffs.
