DeCastro and Ingram gone, Trade down mock

Nick Perry is my top 3-4 OLB.

Jayron Hosley is my favorite CB after Claiborne.

Brandon Washington is my favorite G after DeCastro.

Needless to say, I'm liking the early part of this draft.

The others...I like Reyes but we're going to have to draft more than one DB. We have almost nobody on the roster at either CB or Safety right now...and some of the ones we have are not that good. As much as I believe great D begins with a strong front 7, seems we'd need to go CB again earlier rather than later.

here a OG every body is over looking

Senio Kelemete, G, Washington

Sports Illustrated's Tony Pauline is in Mobile this week covering the Senior Bowl and in his Monday practice report, had some good things to say about Washington Husky Senio Kelemete. Pauline is as respected in the business as they come and has a wide range of sources, so his column at SI.com is a must read and I'd recommend following him on Twitter.

Here's what Pauline noted:
Senio Kelemete (G/Washington) has been incredibly athletic on the field and has stopped several top-rated pass rushers -- including Jack Crawford of Penn State -- dead in their tracks. In the full scrimmage Kelemete annihilated Vinny Curry on one play.
High praise for Kelemete, who is currently rated somewhere around the 3rd round. The 6'4, 300 pound senior played left tackle for the Huskies last year but will likely play guard at the next level.

Rob Rang, a senior analyst at NFLDraftScout.com, said Kelemete will likely be moved back to guard at the next level. His organization currently has Kelemete, who was named to the All-Pac-12 second team this year, ranked as the No. 5 guard prospect and pegged as a third-round pick.

"Kelemete is a better fit inside, where his lack of height and reach won't limit his effectiveness," Rang said, adding that Kelemete is "surprisingly light on his feet" which helps make him "a very intriguing guard prospect, especially for teams operating out of a zone scheme."

like your 2-4 picks

would change rd 1 to Poe (NT)

hate the idea of getting a short no-name QB as a future "back-up"

Good mock ... i think with the advent of the rookie salary cap there will be a LOT more trades this year and upcoming years.

I have just about no interest in trading down unless we're getting another 1st rounder for next year in return. It's just too cute a maneuver, and we've gotten in trouble trying that stuff in the past.

That being said, I like a lot of players in the mock and it's well reasoned. If I'm dropping 10 spots though, it better be for another first rounder.

I seriously doubt any GM is going to give up another 1st round pick to move up to 14. We would have to be in the top 10, if not 5.

And who would be your pick given the scenario that DeCastro and Ingram are off of the board? Upshaw? Kirkpatrick? I really don't see anyone else, and the talent drop off from those guys to the guys I have mocked that we can get later is extremely minimal in my opinion. This draft lacks elite talent up front but is pretty deep across the board. Stock piling picks seems like a logical move to me.

Why not? A team drafting low this year may feel their pick next year will be low as well, and feel its worth giving up for a player they covet. It happens all the time.

Tell me who the first 13 picks are and I'll tell you someone worthy of the 14th overall selection, and I don't think it'll be that difficult. That doesn't mean we'll agree, but I don't think it'll be hard at all.

My problem isn't with your mock, as I said, I like several of the players. My problem is with making a trade down "Plan C". Two players being taken before the 14th overall pick triggers a trade down? That's a very passive draft approach, and being passive has killed us in the draft.
