I think our Cowboys are a collective 12 and 13 under Garrett as head coach in December.

The biggest difference between teams that go to the playoffs and teams that advance in the playoffs is the latter teams continually improve...play better and better. It's as if you can feel the momentum building. This team has a chance if everything comes together at the right time. We've won a lot of games, but it hasnt been everything coming together at once...yet.

If this really is a team capable of making a deep run in the playoffs, we should start picking up steam. If we just start getting by, our exit will be quick.

Can Garrett build on our momentum in December? He hasn't really shown that he can yet. Can he instill the sense of urgency necessary to carry a team to the superbowl?

We are about to find out.

The past is the past, man. Let the Decembers of yesteryear gooooooooo. We're a completely different team. Not sure what you mean by "we should start picking up steam" either, last I checked we've won 10 straight; I think that's pretty steamy. If we finish our last 5 games at 2-3 or 1-4 I'd get a little worried, but quite frankly, I don't think team knows how to lose.

"I'm old enough to know better, but just too damn young to care!"

Don't think these young guys care about records and streaks. They just want to win and play their guts out for each other.

Different team, I believe those ghosts of Decembers past are gone. Just so they keep focusing on one game at a time they will be alright. Did not expect this season at all, so looking forward to the home stretch.

What I mean by picking up steam is that, in order to win a super bowl, you have to continually improve. I'm incredibly excited to have had this kind of year so far. But I am hoping for more. I think our defense needs to improve. We need to get a few turnovers. We need some pressure on the quarterbacks.

And it's not about living in the past. I'm hoping THIS becomes one of the years we add a trophy to the case!

Not to nit-pick, but he did go 4-0 in December a couple of years ago. Winning/losing is not simply based on desire (or lack of), it's a function of talent and health. Hopefully, we maintain what we currently have, and then add Mo back sometime before the end of the regular season. If we can get our defensive backfield back to full health and maintain elsewhere, I like our chances...a lot.

This is not at all true.
Last year's Broncos went 2-2 in December, including a win in overtime. They won the SB.
Last year's Chiefs won 10 in a row to end the season, won 30-0 in their first playoff game, and lost to the Patriots, who lost their last two regular-season games, costing them the #1 seed.
Last year's Texans started 2-5, finished 7-2, roared into the playoffs...and got stomped 30-0 by the Chiefs. Yeah, the Chiefs also roared into the playoffs as I noted above, but 30-0?
The '13 Seahawks lost 2 of their last 4 and won the SB (they won their week-17 game, so it wasn't a resting the starters thing).
The '12 Ravens lost 4 of their last 5 and won the SB.

Forget momentum: you expect teams who play better later in the year to do better in the playoffs than teams that faded, simply because of the health factor. And yet there's very little if any correlation between late-season play and postseason performance.

Just 2 years ago in 2014 when he had a healthy QB Garrett went 4-0 in December winning each game by an average of 21 points.

December 4 at Chicago Bears W 41–28
December 14 at Philadelphia Eagles W 38–27
December 21 Indianapolis Colts W 42–7
December 28 at Washington Commanders W 44–17

As good as Murray was, add Zeke and that group goes to the SB.

Who knows, maybe this year.

Garrett has weathered some bad injuries during his tenure. 2011 and 2012, I was amazed we were even 8-8 with the level of talent on the team. Phil Costa was the starting center for crying out loud. 2013, I thought we had a shot to do some damage that year, but again, injuires.. was it 18 different DL played that year due to injuries.. maybe more.. finally in 2014, talent was good and injury wise we were better than years before, and we won 12 games.. and was play away from the NFC championship game. 2015, injuries again wrecked the year. The moral of the story, if we can stay healthy, this team is built to win games and it don't matter the month of the year.
