Deep free agent RB class

There’s still more talented RB’s not listed as well. Not to mention how deep the draft class is. We can get a better RB for cheaper than whatever contract Zeke will agree to. June 1st cut and move on, no need to have broken down RB as a progress stopper on the roster.

To stay on the roster I would think he would need to take an absolutely massive pay cut. He looked completely done at the end of last season. I'm sure by camp he'll be "in the best shape of his life" and "got his burst back" and then look the same on the field so I'd prefer he just go somewhere else.

I'd take every RB on this list and a few more UFA not listed over Zeke, and I'd take draft picks over high % of the FA RBs.

This is a good FA group of RBs, a lot of young guys still with potential they just have to find the best fit for them to take the next step in production.

Sidenote: Rashaad Penny is a Schottenheimer guy from his Seattle days, and Penny was leading the league in rushing prior to his injury this season. Penny shouldn't have much of a market being injury prone.

Not a one of those RB's are better than Pollard or Zeke. At least how to help Dallas. Sanders possibly, but was he just used correctly?
He was in a mix of a few other RB's including Hurts.

Montgomery may be interesting though. Hunt for speed, but how much can he really help?

The only available free agent RB I would want is Josh Jacobs.

I'd be interested if the coaches would prefer a vet back with the adequate blocking skills and game day steadiness ..... vs a backup rookie who is not noted as a strong blitz blocker. .

Also wonder if Mac would prefer that big hulk power runner ala Eddie Lacy, ..John Kuhn... would that be a reason he'd be in favor of a pay-cut Zeke return ?

This and a deep draft class could mean Zeke's best bet is to take whatever pay cut Stephen offers and stay.

Frankly at the least, I'd seek to explore the leftovers of these vet RBs... after the NFL draft

But i better like the idea of stumbling upon another possible surprise gem Pollard like draftee in a 3rd or 4th round in what is supposed to be a deep quality RB class.
We wouldn't be looking that FA back group for a starter, but more a complementary player.

i assume radas tagged Jacobs, but if they didn't, i think he walks to another NFL team. Ditto with Miles Sanders.

Damien Harris or Singletary. Each is a nice fit in the new MM scheme. They can run and catch as well. Harris is still young as well. Not sure about Singletary's age. Id be fine with either. I bet we can get Devin on a 2 year deal. He helps Dak day 1.

That said, I rather just draft a guy. We already have Malik Davis and 20. Just add a rookie to the mix. The Minnesota Abrahim I like. He can do what Zeke does and is a great pass blocker. He can be the hammer, the grinder between the tackles and Malik,Pollard can be the explosive guys.

And yet we used the franchise tag on Pollard.
That's the price you pay to get a KNOWN playmaker in the NFL.
If you know a cheaper one that's proven he can be a player maker in the NFL please let JJ and Stephen know.

Do you want him to stay?

Every single ounce of evidence points to the Cowboys having a golden opportunity to rid themselves of the hapless and overpriced Zeke.

The fact that they are paying Pollard 10 million to stay only underlines that.

Can you imagine having Pollard and someone like Zach Charbonnet or Tank Bigsby as a RB stable? And then on top of that not having the waste a play handing the ball off to Zeke?

The Cowboys will be paying more for Zeke after the pay cut than any team that would sign him in free agency would be paying him.

That's how the Cowboys operate.
They aren't paying Zeke anything. Zeke is done as a Cowboy. They are drafting a running back.

Zeke is owed 11m no matter what, we can save 5m in cap by cutting but we still owe him 11M and he probably wants 4M to play. We can pay that in dead money or make a one year deal for a short yardage back and draft a guy too.

That might happen. Drafting a guy and Zeke coming back for his last year are not related IMO with Pollard on the tag.
