The New Orleans Saints have outscored opponents by an average of 26-24. The Dallas Cowboys have beaten opponents 25.7-23.

The Saints (1-2) and Cowboys (2-1) are relatively even in most statistical categories three games of the young NFL season. The teams meet Sunday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Historically, the Cowboys still lead the overall series, although the Saints have been dominant in the last decade. Review some of the best games in the series in our Throwback Thursday feature.

The Cowboys may be known as one of the most storied and successful franchises in the NFL, but the Saints have been superior since 2000 with 126 wins to the Cowboys' 114.

Throw in a few turnovers and a little luck and we might be close enough at the end so Romo can throw his game losing interception.

your probably not aware romo passed staubach in come from behind victorys last week

Not sure we have the personnel to implement an effective plan. Realistically you just hope the Cowboys are either ahead or close enough in the 2nd half where a few key timely 3rd down stops or even a turnover is the difference.

I'm looking at two things.

Are we sending pressure up the middle to force Brees to move.

Are we jamming receivers at the snap of the ball.

Doesn't change anything really. No need to get all defensive brother, just a quick little jab.

Use the ground game to keep the ball out of Brees' hands as much as possible. On defense, use a mixture of rushmen to keep N.O.'s offense off balance and Brees uncertain exactly where the pressure might be coming from. Blitz them sparingly, using it just enough to keep their offense ill at ease about what's coming next. Vary the angles of attack and the rushmen enough to keep the pass rush coming fresh and strong on a regular basis.

It's real simple. This defense can not stop anyone with a decent QB. The Cowboys need to run the ball and dominate the clock, keeping the Saints offense off the field as much as possible.

Our best defense is a clock draining offense.

Agreed basic , sound physical game , but we need to score points , can't come back with 3 points after grinding 8-10 mins, Saints can score in a hurry.

We can't fall behind early either. No Murray brain farts putting the team in a quick 7-0 hole.

I'd love to get all up in Drew Brees' mole and make him uncomfortable but that isn't happening with this sad sack of misfits up front. So our offense has to dominate this game.

Can the experts in forum come up with a plan to take away or limit what saints do good on offense ..a.. La. bellicheck ... Also with whatever limited resources Marinelli and co have ?

Rest is up to offense, this game our O shud come out fairing on all cylinders and running game needs to be established early ...Ryan will gamble and we need to make him pay.

Comments ?

I would study the games where the Browns and Falcons beat the Saints.

the problem is they can attack dallas on the ground with Khiry Robinson (you will know this name after today) and Brees in air. Personally, I would make Robinson beat me today and put max pressure on Brees with blitz. Its risky plan but I see it as only way of stopping them.

We need to keep up on offense cause this D ain't stopping Brees. Hopefully Romo is up for the task and Murray don't fumble

A package that I would like to see us run is a variation of nickel personnel with Moore subbed in for one of the safeties (but not necessarily lined up in the traditional safety spot). This would allow us to keep two linebackers on the field to help stop the run, while also putting our best coverage guys on the field.

I have been hoping they do some form of that. Maybe they will this week.
