Defense debuts a dance routine. Can NFL "Haka" dance be far behind?

I may be biased having played and watched rugby, but the Haka is one of the coolest traditions in all of sports IMO. Those guys are friggin intense. After playing against some pretty good rugby players, none of which would even make a "practice squad" for the All Blacks, there is no way I'd want to mess with those guys....and they certainly don't mean it to be "fun". They want to ****ing kill you.

The Haka for football? NO thanks.

There is more than enough song and dance in the NFL as it is already....and that's exactly what that type of thing would become here....a joke.

as a Kiwi now living in the Hawaii, Rugby is and will always be my first love. Before the English came to New Zealand, the Maori used to perform the Haka before they went into battle with the other tribes. So it is a war chant to get themselves hyped up. No guns, clubs and spears, hand to hand combat.
Been performing it at Rugby games since the 1800's.
Right now is the tri-nations tournament, New Zealand , Austrailia and South Africa. Tomorrow night is NZ vrs Aussie. Capa Haka will be performed before the match - as it is for all international games. Will be glued to my couch watching - Go the All Blacks !

The Haka is a traditional Maori dance. That is not what the Cowboys are doing, I'm not sure what they're doing. I just posted a video of the Haka.

Have a little cultural toleration.

As I recall, Georgia ran them right out of the Sugar Bowl.

A lot of the schools with a huge Island influence do some form of it. Hawaii, Utah, one of the Texas schools, not sure how many. Depends on which ethnic influence is strongist. Tongan, Fijian, Maori etc.
That video is an old Haka, the new ones are much more in your face. Check you tube for this years Haka.

Georgia beat them, and badly - but did not run them out ! Sort of....

And "haka" just means "dance" in Polynesian (also pronounced ha'a or sa'a depending on the island). The All Blacks popularized a Maori war haka, the "Ka Mate". And when done right, no one laughs when it is performed.

I have to say, if that is performed right by the defense at home it would fire the crowd up say during a commercial break going into the opposition's first offensive possession.

On the road it would just get mocked.
