Defense is the difference

It’s so huge
Also 5 points less a game this year
Yards per game is how defenses get ranked but it’s really a poor stat
Points is obviously more important than yards
Turn overs is really huge because not only did you stop them from scoring but you get good or Atleast better field position for your offense
Those two stats to me are what I really care about the most

I’m sorry but yards is a better measurement than points and why the league has always used it to rank defenses while turnovers is a great equalizer.

The defense is still learning and improving. New scheme. Lots of new faces. Lots of rookies. Many missed games.

I still don't think the D is quite as good as some people think but by the second half of the season they might really get it going.

They haven’t been that good. 26th in the league coming into Panther game. But leading the league in turnover differential. That’s the difference.

Remember last year when Dak and the offense got a ton of points and yards with the game out of reach? A lot of fans, including myself, discounted that production because it was against soft zone stuff just meant to run out the clock.

This year, we now have Quinn as a DC who has a history of playing super soft with a big lead and MM seems really comfortable with it. Its only logical to use the same criteria and this year its in Dallas' favor. The Cowboys gave up 14 points and 150 yards against Carolina with the game out of reach and the defense playing prevent. They gave up 7 points 75 yards to Philly in the same situation.

If you take away all of those garbage points and yards, the defense still isn't elite but its middle of the pack. I agree with those saying that the defense hasn't been great but its been mediocre with a lot of turnovers, which is a huge improvement over where they were last year.

We knew our offense would be a juggernaut but we didn’t know how much improved our defense would be.

Leading the league in turnover differential. R U Kidding Me. OMG. When have seen anything like this in 21st Century under the Star.

It’s what we have been missing this era. An opportunistic defense to compliment this explosive offense is a real asset and entity . Which makes a more serious contender than we’ve been in a very long time.

I think this team can hang with anyone in the league at this time.

We all knew? I didn't think this offense would look like this. I think both are much improved. The OL is playing well and the D is getting turnovers.

Sidenote: Maybe cutting Smith puts Wilson, Kazee and Kearse on the field at the same time. Wilson is a legit S, and Kearse is a rover. At some point teams are going to start having success targeting Kearse if he has to play a true S spot
