Just on my lunch hour. So am responding now. I think DET's defense is the worst matchup we face all year because our O line will not be able to control the line of scrimmage like it has, and hence time of possession. When our defense has been forced to play for long stretches of time, they have not fared well and have faded as the game has gone on. Now, missing Hitchens, who was playing great, it is a real concern. If Suh does not play, that is a great help. There, I've responded.

Respect to you rpatricc, but the Lions haven't faced any offense as talented as ours. Yes, I'm including Green Bay and New England. Their QBs give them a chance against anybody, but the the Cowboys offense is the most balanced in the league. If Green Bay and New England can handle that D (and they both did) then our offense can handle that D.

Our defense isn't elite but neither is Detroit's offense. Don't believe the hype. We got this. Enjoy the ride.

Forgive my ignorance (but again you said you expected it so I don't apologize ... ignorance all up in your grill ... but I digress....), but just because some Joe Blow shows up and says he's not a "blind homer" am I'm suppose to bow down .... and except every word that comes out of his keyboard as pure objectivety? Well then, you've got me twisted.

Yes, I'm ride or die all the way. Mr. Objectivity's first instinct is to call me "ignorant". Such a turn on.

Yes, I said "losers" talk about losing. I don't think that's calling you a loser but that does say you have a losing mentality. If you didn't have a losing mentality I would think you could find a way to look at this defense in a way where they could win games instead of how they can't compete or stand a chance. That's what winners do. You probably could learn a lesson or 2 from this defense that you apparently have little respect for.

The way they've been playing and produced on the field ... I guess thats too much to ask for a fan of the Cowboys who want to find a way for them to win and make it to the SB. Especially for those who think nothing matters but winning a SB.

Once again they have not faced a potent OL and running attack as we possess. I think we can handle them with Suh or without.

Packers just hung 152 yds rushing against their defense and that was with Suh. Fairley and Suh both out is a big blow to the strength of their team. We should have Free back and Murray will have another week to heal up his hand. Our strength,Oline, will be near 100% while their strength will be considerably weaker.

If Hitch can't play, it does hurt, but this team has been playing well as a unit and the Dline has been showing improvement especially over the last few weeks. Bell has been a little turnover prone the last couple weeks and should see our defense try to exploit that.

Passing effectiveness is what wins in the playoffs. Just like the regular season. The only thing that changes is the teams pass it better and defend the pass better.

You never know in this league, but I can't imagine a team that had the poor QB play DET got yesterday coming out and beating DAL the way we've played the last few months. And, if we can run on them, or make them overcommit to the run now with Suh where he belongs, it's even more likely that we're playing with a lead for much of this game.

Unless Stafford just heats up, this is a game we should win this week.

I agree defense wins championships and I do worry about Detroit, they have just as many weapons on offense as the Cowboys although not as good of an offensive line but it wouldn't be a huge surprise to me if the Lions beat the cowboys on Sunday but their offense reminds me a lot of the recent Cowboys teams, they show spurts of putting it together on offense but are just too inconsistent, hopefully they don't find that consistency and balance on Sunday on offense, but I still think it's going to be a close scoring game

Which is why I think there is a good chance we lose this game. Missing Hitchens is a bigger blow than people on this board think. He has been our best defender, other than Crawford and O Scan. And our DBs simply do not match up well against Calvin and Tate (and an emerging Ebron). And Stafford always seems to play well in his home town and against us. On the other side, playing a top 5-7 defense. Our O line simply has not seen a D line like DET's since maybe ARZ. This neutralizes our biggest strength (unless we get a big break and Suh is suspended). Their LBs are fast to the ball. DBs are nothing special, but the DL makes them better. Not trolling here, just speaking honestly. I think: DET 27 DAL 20. Would appreciate good analysis in response, not just blind homerism...

The Lions are who we think they are....If you want to crown them..... then crown their a-- But The Lions are who we think they are!!

This is exactly the kind of ignorant response I expected. Just trying to have a rational discussion of a team I consider a bad matchup and get others' thoughts.

Glad I could meet your expectations!!

Lol

You could have stopped there lol

LOL I had to try and justify him calling me ignorant and me calling him a loser. I did a poor job but I tried.

I'm not going to let these CB's bring me down. This party is is just getting started:starspin::star:
We've suffered too long and it's our time to have some fun.

Same old crap from the same old sources.

For the life of me I have no idea why some of these guys just won't shut up and enjoy the ride and stop the nonsense.

I am enjoying the ride. I also like to think about the next game like coaches do, so I am prepared for watching it. When I think about this opponent, it just screams bad matchup (at least before the Suh suspension).

I looked up your thread history and everything has a negative slant. It is what it is and you are what your posting history is to paraphrase Parcells.

3.8 yards per carry by Lacy, and alot of yards after game was decided. I agree our O line is much better. But I would not say it is licking its chops against that DL (maybe now without Suh)

You say a lot of yards when the game was decided, I say a lot of yards when they were up 21-14 and 28-14 and needed to run to protect their QB and their lead (since the game really wasn't decided until the safety at 2 minutes put them up 16). But hey its just semantics after all isn't it?

I don't call a 21-14 score, with 9 minutes left in the game, "decided" (they went up 2 scores with 8:45 left) but whatever.

Edit: looking at the play-by-play Lacy had all of 15 yards rushing after GB went up two scores in the 4th quarter. So ya, a whole huge 15 of his 100 yards came when they went up by two scores in the 4th.

What makes this version of the Cowboys special?

Balance.

I made a post back in training camp that balance wasn't just an album by Van Halen. it takes balance to win games, and balance to win it all.

Does this team have a defense that can be exposed? Sure they do. But this offense is perhaps the best I have seen as a Cowboy fan. I think it would be difficult to suggest that after the 1993 version when they were stroking. But what sets this one apart if the fact this team takes advantage of mistakes by the other team. And all teams make mistakes.

Dallas puts points on the board. And in the last month they have put them on the board first and most. This team averaged 41.25 PPG in December. Dallas took the foot off the gas in the Commanders game and still whipped them like step-children.

Time of possession and the offense scoring in bunches, added to an unexpected defense that is opportunistic in the turnover game, and this team is not the roll over some expect.

The road is tough. If your team is for real, then tough don't matter.

I like passer rating differential as a measure of how well a team will perform in the postseason.

We finished the regular season 2nd. Detroit finished 13th.

I like our chances.
