With all of the needs the team has and considering the resources used to address the DE position in recent history it seems almost inconceivable that we would have to draft a DE

But

It looks like Hardy wont be re-signed and Mincey and Jack Crawford are also FA's

So I guess we better start talking DE's. You can't lose 3 of them and then not address it. I have a feeling we will resign Jack Crawford but I think Hardy and Mincey are gone. At least it appears that way now.

Anyone have any potential mid to late round gems?

I think we'll bring in some veteran help for the position while we continue to allow Lawrence and Gregory to mature. I don't think it will be an expensive FA, but probably some aging vet whose pass rushing has diminished but isn't gone yet.

Devonte Fields
Not sure about his background and how that would fly.

I would love Olivier Vernon, but that is probably a pipe dream. Malik Jackson would be nice too, but he is going to break the bank.

If you go the bargain basement stopgap route, Robert Ayers, Andre Branch, Vinny Curry, William Hayes and Jason Jones stick out.

Andre branch fa from jags, they liked him coming out of college.
derrick Shelby from the fins is another id have a look at

I think David Irving could play RDE but this team never puts guys in the correct position. The kid needs to play , so does Gregory . We drafted Gregory in the 2nd round there's no excuse for him not to be starting next year. The big need is a dominant 1 tech.

I am starting to believe you truly are a pessimist cornering the Cowboys front office.

Mario Williams might be an option; buys the team a few more years to develop Gregory.

Bills look they will cut him to avoid $19M cap hit next season and it saves them $12.9M in cap room to do so.

He'll be 31 next season (3 years older than Hardy) but less drama and since he recently pocketed $25M in guaranteed money from Buffalo, would probably be cheaper to sign than Hardy as well.

To be honest, if he's cheap enough, I'll take Demarcus Ware as a part time player, since I do think Gregory will take a big jump this offseason.

Definitely not time to stop adding to the pass rush, especially since it wasn't even good this year. And expecting Gregory to be anything other than a part time player next year is still unrealistic in my opinion. He's a situational pass rusher, might be all he ever is too.

Some guys who have a chance to be available with our 2nd pick (or later) that I like....

Jonathan Bullard
Jonathan Allen
Shaq Callhoun
Carl Naasib
Devonte Fields
Anthony Zettle (although i see him as a 3 tech)
Charles Tapper
Bronson Kaufusi

If Hardy walks (which is what I'd personally like to see) adding 1 of those guys above + a mid level free agent like Branch/Curry/Claiborne could make a much cheaper rotation while adding the depth Rod loves. I know there were obvious roadblocks to Hardy having an ideal season, but I just didn't see enough to warrant him getting the same type of money + more years that he got this past off season. If he doesn't have suitors and would be cheaper it would be different tho...

Meh, all I see is a declining player on the wrong side of 30.

I'm down with Gregory at right de from day 1. Bring in another vet if need be, but Gregory needs to start.

DE is a definite need for sure. Need a vet to mix with Gregory. Not a fan of Bosa at 4

If we did draft a complimentary DE it would have to be a depth move, and down the draft. Irving stays as backup 3-tech, that's his spot. Russell comes back off I.R. so I don't think its a massive need, but to your point another player for depth would not hurt. Lawrence and Gregory should be our starters, Russel, Crawford and we have the other English guy Obada ? On PS. Who else do we have if Hardy and Mincy don't return ?

I think that is all we have and Crawford is also a free agent.

Im a QB in the first guy, but if they are confident they can get there guy in the 2nd I wouldn't mind Bosa or Ogbah one bit
