I always believed the defensive front helped the cornerback . The faster I can get to the quarterback, I’m hoping for a quick release. Which creates a short passing game which creates mistakes. I’ve always believed this is the best game plan for the defense. Letting the quarterback sit back there in this league you’re either going to get a penalty , or a 30 yard plus completion . I can’t give a better example than Aaron Rodgers , in our last playoff game with them. Look what Tampa Bay did to him , he had no time at all. So in my opinion without a great Defensive tackle front , you just don’t win in this league Consistently enough.
