Isnt aaron donal about the same size as crawford? I dont think hes too small. I think they want a guy that size. I want to see what he does when healthy.

Donald is 6 foot 285. Crawford is 6'4" 290. Donald was the 13th pick in the draft. Crawford was a third round pick. Different body's. And who knows how well Donald will hold up. But he is a stud.

i never expected to say this but t mcclain was a huge injury this year. after him, their main philosophy was to play hayden 500 snaps and spin down ends inside. position flex is nice but we fall back on it too much. run defense used to be decent in the 3-4. we were always in the top quarter of the league. other than last year we haven't figure out how to consistently stop the run w/ this 4-3 defense.

And philosophy that involves Hayden on the field spells eventual doom..

Haha, I'm still trying to understand what you guys think Crawford should be making. He's not getting elite DT money, he's getting good DT money.

He has the fourth most guaranteed money out of any 4-3 DT in the NFL. I like him as a player and I don't regret the contract yet but he is not the fourth best 4-3 DT in the league.

Some of the better DTs on that list simply aren't off their original contracts at this point. Crawford's contract shouldn't be anything to worry about.

The key to this defensive line, from my understanding, is speed and penetration. Combined with a wave of rotational players (to prevent fatigue), it is designed to create plays behind the LOS, pressure the QB and create turnovers. IMO, it is still a work in progress but with key additions could be very good.

Ok but if you dont have the players what is the point of running that scheme??
designed to create plays behind the LOS, pressure the QB and create turnovers.......lol not happening!

also at the op, what you say makes sense, but once the cowboys sign someone to a 2nd contract, they keep them and
more than likely at the position they were signed to play.
So get used to crawford where he is.

I've gotten used to a lot. Doesn't make it right. And also a big reason why my "blindfaith" of this team is about all used up.

That was my point in another thread: Jerry is to blame for allowing the coaches to dictate the talent and not the GM.

As it is now, you have to roll with or fire the DC.

I'm all for letting coaches get players that they want and that fit their scheme. I'm also all for firing coaches when they get said players and run said scheme and it remains below average.

The NFL market is 3T and 34 DE. He got the same money as Odrick and some scrub this past market. Once Donald and some other rookie deals come due this year and next it will be obvious. Shopping season starts in March.

Gregory for the first few years of his career will be used like B Irvin and we need to accept that. Keep crawford and Lawrence where they are and get replacements for Hayden and Hardy. No more musical chairs.

Just find a Suh type player to put next to Crawford and problem solved though there are few 300 plus guys who can actually rush the passer and they go early in the draft

I think the thing that surprised me most in all of that analysis (good work btw) is that Muhammad Wilkerson turned into way better pro than I expected. I remember him from Temple in 2011 draft.

He needs to be put out to pasture. He's always hurt.

No way. He was like amazing for that one magical game against the Eagles in week two.

He totally is the answer if he is healthy.

Nevermind he was going against a line that proved over the course of the year they could not block anybody.

The man is a certified stud.

Marinelli is killing crawfords career by putting the worst DT in the league next to him.
