I was watching highlights of the game last night and saw that monster for the niners wind up for a nuclear punch that glanced off the RBs head then hit the ball to cause a fumble. It is hailed as the play of the game. IMHO that is not football. The defensive punch is out of control and will only get worse. Does anyone else feel this way?

Refs just missed it. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s fined.

Awhile back they made a ruling that if you hit the ball you can hit the head or something. Seems off to me though

I feel like this will have some bad consequences at some point. Encouraging these guys to go around throwing punches will not end well. Even just taking one of those punches off the arm would be rough. It isn't small DBs like peanut doing this stuff. That guy was 350 lbs all day and it looked like he knew how to throw a punch.

Punching the ball out is not new. What makes it different today? I remember watching Butkus and Nitschke beat up ball carriers with their forearms and helmets. That's when football was football. LOL.

They've neutered the defenses in pretty much every other way. Can't hit high, low, from behind at the wrong angle, can't land on the offense too hard, can't tackle them too hard....defenses will adapt to find other ways to be disruptive.

If you say so. I guess it is just me.

That is what's happening with "most" teams this season: they see it works. As for our Cowboys? He falls to the ground, hoping the opposing players falls over top of us, or we "grab" at the ball. You can't make this stuff up, but it's here

Sure, biting, punching them in the nuts, twisting knees after the play, eye gouging, kicking dudes in the head.

All that stuff happened. Doesn’t mean it was good for the sport.
