Taken from the article in the Newsfeed forum (comments appear to be disabled there), here are the defensive snap counts for the Bears game (read the article for more commentary):
D-line:
Obviously, the most disappointing is Thornton. We were supposed to have our best starting DT duo in years with T. Craw and Thornton. Not even a month into the season, T. Craw has been moved to DE and Thornton's snaps are getting cut in half each week. Also disappointing that Irving and Mayowa keep losing snaps despite there being no competition. Jack Crawford is leading the D-line in snaps. The past few years it was Nick Hayden. Is this an improvement? Looking forward to seeing how Collins does.
LBers:
Interesting that we don't even average 2 LBers on the field at the same time (the other LBers combined for 60 snaps). We really have nobody outside of Lee. If he goes down we're in big trouble. Hitchens looks to be nothing more than a liability who hasn't been able to take advantage of a lack of competition.
Secondary:
Definitely our deepest unit. We have 4 CBs who can hold their own. Interesting that Wilcox cuts into Jones' snaps but not Church's. Hopefully Brown becomes a player because Carr, Scandrick and Claiborne might not be here much longer.
D-line:
- Jack Crawford, 44 snaps
- Tyrone Crawford, 43
- Maliek Collins, 41
- Terrell McClain, 39
- Benson Mayowa, 28
- David Irving, 22
- Cedric Thornton, 13
- Ryan Davis, 8
- Kyle Wilber, 7
