Defensive Tackle Thoughts

Dunno if Hill will be PUP or permanent IR .... but Gallimore more likely short term IR per 3 weeks.
Hope he can eventually develop into a Grady Jarrett like performer and potential ....
He's eligible for PUP, so it would be dumb to put him on permanent IR for no reason.

He has played well this preseason. I think he is better than Woods was in past years. He was ahead of Bohanna on the depth chart for the Texans game.
Quinn didn't even want to take Woods to camp, that's a low bar. He's been in the league since 2015, played for multiple teams (just a guy) and is listed as a 5 year vet. If that's correct he wouldn't even go through waivers. 5 DTs seems too many especially when Gallimore will miss 3 games at most if placed on IR.

I feel better about DT than I did the last couple seasons, mainly, cause of the depth they added...Osa, Urban and Watkins. Although, I don't know what Watkins brings hopefully he plays solid ball.
Watkins is ubertalented if we can get it out of him. Texans could not. Is Quinn a player whisperer?

I don't see any players that I would want to cut and replace with a cut from another team.
- They'll only keep 5 on the 53.

  • Veterans
    • Brent Urban
    • Carlos Watkins
  • Terrific Looking Young Player
    • Osa Odighizuwa
  • Where's the Beef
    • Quinton Bohanna
    • Justin Hamilton
These players can play the run.

If they want more pass rush on 3rd downs then use more 3-3-5 Nickel instead of the standard 4-2-5 Nickel.
- In 3-3-5 one DT is replaced by a LB.

Need to add young veteran depth at a hybrid DT/NT before the season starts with Gallimore & Hill being out for few games.

I would trade for Star Lotulelei.

yes he does. that is what I meant, Hamilton probably gets cut, keeping Gallimore. Then he is resigned once Gallimore is move to IR.

Thats just what I was envisioning but I wasn’t sure whether or not Hamilton was a vested veteran.

DT is gonna be “cross your fingers” all season.

It’s a middling group league wide. Maybe that will be enough.

This is the first time in a while, i can't even remember, when i am excited to see the defense in action. Oh who am i kidding, the early 90's D. I am willing to see them go through some growing pains, while they develop into a force finally. I think Dallas has the personnel to begin this turnaround. Next year complete the transformation with a legit safety and maybe another backer and DT. They will be losing some of these one year guys.:starspin:
