Stautner, Ware can't play every down and remain effective. You got to give him relief. Same with Ellis. You probably dont want burnett and carpenter in together. But you mix up who is in there. Burnett is pretty good in terms of pass rush. We saw what he did to force that Bradie james interception for touchdown.

And obviously if you don't pressure the QB you end up giving up the big play a lot more and a lot easier.

Its give and take.

How do other players in the NFL play every defensive down and stay effective? Are you saying that our players are deficient?

If so, then personnel has to be the problem more than defensive scheme.

Neverthless, I will grant that at Ellis' age a little rest would probably help, but Ware has to be a horse for us if we are to have any chance at success on defense.

Spears and Canty just can't seem to get to the quarterback... I don't know whats up with them. Before throwing them away though I'd fire Jim Jeffcoat... obviously he is inept.

Before you hate on Zimmer, you need to hate on him.

Despite all the problems we've had at defensive end... somehow he is still here...

He has been here for 6 years.

Before you toss Jeffcoat or Zimmer under the bus consider what I said long ago and that's that neither Spears nor Canty were considered good pass rushers in college so why should anyone think they would be good pass rushers in the pro's? Especially in a scheme that isn't pass-rusher friendly when it comes to the DE's.

If the two of them combined hit 6 sacks I'd say that would be about right.

Once again the obvious, logical truth is right there for everyone to see, and once again, many have and will continue to cover their eyes and look the other way.

Good post Michael. All you can do is point out the obvious, you can't make everyone open their eyes.
