Deion Sanders fires back at Tony Romo's comment about his tackling **merged**

Soul Glo!

It is too funny. I keep returning to the OP and re-listen to Sanders' (unnecessary) reaction again and again. Deion is being Deion. He is in attack mode. He is putting Romo 'in his place' but NO where and at NO time does he deny that Romo's observation was not untrue. Hilarious. I believe another poster alluded to the perfect description of Sanders reaction earlier in the thread. Romo made a true statement while doing his job, which 'forced' Sanders to basically respond with 'Yo Mamma!' That is so wild.

That was thing, it was nothing more than a lame effort to save face.

His little tagline “I tried to take the high road, but I don’t know the address” is cute but just reflects more poorly on him. Even funnier when he considers himself a religious follower; he’s effectively saying he doesn’t know how to set aside his pride and be humble.

Marino started 18 playoff games. Romo six and he was pretty mediocre in most of them.

8 TD’s
2 Int’s
93 Rating

I wouldn’t call that mediocre, maybe he just needed better teams, smh.

He even had better playoff numbers than Troy but guess what.... Troy had MUCH better teams, I am sure we can agree with that.

BTW, this is not a Tony vs Troy debate, love them both.

This can be a learning experience. Romo should probably poke fun at people with good senses of humor going forward.

I thought it was pretty funny at the time.

Deion didn't win one either because it's a team game. He never would've won a SB if he remained on the Falcons and didn't move on to the 49ers or the Cowboys. Evidence that you can be an all-pro - even the best at your position all time - but still need a balanced team around you to actually win one.

We need to change it so I can give multiple likes!

I know this wasn't for me, and I'd never in a million years say Romo was batter than Marino
but

Playoff stats

QB rating
Romo: 93
Marino: 77

TD:int
Romo: 4 to 1 ratio
Marino: 4 to 3 ratio

Compl %
Romo: 62%
Marino: 56%

YPA
Romo: 7.1
Marino: 6.6

Ints rate
Romo: 1.1%
Marino: 3.5%

I know that you realize this, Canada, but you really do need an all-around TEAM to get to the playoffs and especially advance far in the playoffs

Announcers have been saying this about Deion for 20 years and now he's offended?
exactly.

He blew up because it was Tony...and for whatever reason, he's never liked Romo.
He's been relentlessly and often unfairly bashing him for years without a peep from Tony.

One little TRUE , well-know, yet harmless quip from Romo and he gets his panties in a wad.
Deion is just thin skinned.

I loved the point made earlier;

If Deion would've stayed with the same franchise (Atlanta) for his whole career like Romo did with Dallas....how many rings would he have?
My guess is zero.

I think Deion comes off looking rather silly with this. Romo is part of the media now. Did he take a shot at Deion? I suppose he did a little bit. But is it as big a deal as Deion took it? No.

First of all, Romo was right. It's no secret Deion didn't like contact. That doesn't take his status of perhaps the best CB ever to play away. Deion should've just joked about it and said, like he has in the past, that tackling wasn't what made him great. He comes across looking rather thin-skinned.

Don't be surprised to see Romo take the high road this weekend with an apology .........which would make Deion's response look even worst. I'm guessing CBS has no intention seeing two of their top employees in a public bloodbath......
