We all know about the well-publicized account of Wade getting fired in Buffalo basically because he wouldn't fire his ST coach after the music city "mistake" as Wade calls it.

Does anyone have the worrisome deja-vu about our special teams unit as we watch short kickoffs, poor coverage and a McBriar dropoff week after week? I'm not sure what has changed, or how Buffalo's ST's performed outside of that playoff game under Wade's tenure, but I do wonder if this could be a problem as the year goes on, into next season as well.

I haven't noticed any drop off in McBriar's punting. He seems to keep booming some long ones from time to time. Most of the time the team does not have field position for him to just boom it. They tend to be in a position for him to try to drop it down inside the 10.

I feel like there's a lack of consistency. Your reasons probably have merit. We also don't punt that often.

Outside of that, it does feel like the special teams have taken an enormous step back.

The good thing is that I do not believe that Phillips has a vested interest in whether or not Bruce Read is on the staff like he did that fellow in Buffalo.

I expect us to have a new coach over this group next season. It has been pitiful this year.

Yeah I agree, he has been using the flip-flop almost every time this year. That affects distance.

That fellow who was his special teams coach in buffalo who he would not fire, still sees wade each home game.

He is an assitant head coach at a local Arlington High school.

I thought Bruce Dehaven was hired by Seattle this year after leaving the Cowboys.

Maybe it was someone else, but Dehaven was the SP coach in Buffalo for the Music City Miracle.

Here you go Theebs. I was mixing my stories up:

"Bills owner Ralph Wilson fired Phillips after Phillips refused to fire special teams coach Ronnie Jones."
