Deja Vu

And it should not happen. You are advocating quiting.

Im advocating competence. Im advocating being more than 8-8. Making the playoffs. Winning.

Im advocating changing what clearly hasnt been working.

Can blame Jerry for this one... At that point they both sucked... gurode was just more expensive and older..

Gurode did not suck. He might have lost of step or two but he was much better than Costa. We just could not afford to sign him at that point in time. I blame both Jerry and Garrett for the Costa disaster. There is no reason why you would put your QB on the line with a rookie free agent Center and say that his a perfect replacement for Gurode. It took us 3 years to find a dependable center and can Costa. If this was a real team heads would have rolled for such a bad decision.

The time to upgrade significantly has passed. All that's left on the market are players equal to what we already have. Sadly, you're right: this is very reminiscent to that OL. Garrett has jettisoned all our veterans and gone with a ragtag group of journeymen and unheralded rookies. Similar to when we cut Gurode to give the almighty Costa the position.

If Garrett had a couple years, I think Jerry would trade for help. However, the writing is in the wall and Jerry knows as well as anyone that you can really benefit (from a marketing perspective) from a high draft pick and a new coach. My theory is that he's making Garrett work harder to prove himself, so that he either gets a coach who made a bunch of nobodies into a success story or he gets a brand new face to stir up some enthusiasm amongst the fans

I don't agree. I don't think Jerry wants any part of getting rid of Garrett. He's had two puppets post-Parcells. He might have to give the next guy a little authority.

You are advocating changing by quitting first. Tanking a season is quitting, no matter how justified.

Our DL is going to be bad, because we lack DL talent. That's not going to change until next offseason, at the earliest. We'll get better with the injured players back, assuming we don't lose more.

Josh Brent or Anthony Spencer *could* give us some lift, but both are relative long shots. If we win games this season, it's because we're outscoring teams. We'd better get used to expecting that, because I don't think there's any getting around it.

Wait, so if we win, it's because we scored higher?! What?! Since When?!

I disagree some with your statement...all this defense has to do is get some turnovers and five to six stops a game to greatly swing final results around. That part of the deal, still is within reach.
