Apparently lsu had some kind of pro day yesterday

4.39 40

Dude is a playmaker. His tackling issues are way over blown. He didn't miss a single tackle in either cfb playoff game. He's the top safety in the class. A top 25 player.

Would love him in a trade back to the mid 20’s

The guy Delpit reminds me of it Byron Jones.
He is not that instinctive at safety but covers all the ground.
He is not physical with his tackling but is great with the ball in the air.

So realistically it’s a high 4.4s at the combine which is still elite for his size.

Tackling issues are a concern, but his ceiling as a FS is the highest in the draft IMO.

Played with a high ankle sprain this year. Might explain some of the tackling issues. I have no problem taking him

Dude was a flat out stud in college - I’m a casual college football fan and LSU played a lot of ranked teams this season & all I remember is hearing Delpits name over and over again. Can’t believe that he’s probably not even going to be drafted in the 1st round.

I disagree that his tackling isn’t an issue but he’s still the best safety in this class because he has rare playmaking traits.

Nobody touches his potential upside in this class.

I don't see a problem with physicality in tackling. His issue appears to be over-running tackles and taking bad angles.

If the doomsday scenario happens and there are only two quarterbacks picked before the Cowboys pick, he should be in consideration. His range is phenomenal. Delpit can cover up for average cornerback play.

That's a lot of discounting. I think I'd probably say a 4.39 translates into a 4.44

Mind you this year there's no crowd keeping him honest. He could have had 10 attempts to get that so who knows.

Mostly this. He also lacks power at the point of contact, something I'm sure would improve with NFL strength training. He has broad enough shoulders to carry some additional muscle. His tackling issues are mostly technique related, not tackle avoidance.

Fair enough, I air on the side of caution. Regardless it’s exceptional.

I like him in the 20s, just not sure about 17.

Well said.

Thing is, those very things tell me ge shouldnt have a first round grade.

I can very much see him making it to 51, and I'd be happy to get him there.

Until this team actually commits to taking the safety position seriously I have zero faith they take one in the first 3 rounds
Theres a handful of guys that seem to be mocked in the 2nd, 3rd round.

Chinn, Duggar, Winfield, etc..

At least one of them is going to be a solid NFL safety, and hopefully they get the right one.

I'm with you though. When you keep running 6th rounders and undrafted guys out there....

Agree, and it drives me crazy. That why they end up desperate and willing to trade sometimes multiple (first) round picks for earl thomas and jamal adams
