so Should I Cancel My Orders Of Murray Jerseys:d

No, but many are expecting Felix Jones jerseys to be on half price special pretty soon. ;)

To those of you late to the Murray bandwagon, welcome. It was nice of you to finally catch up with us and hop on board. Long before this game, I was harping on the great value we had in Murray and IIRC said that he was a first round talent.

I am not basing that on the huge rushing total he put up today. Some of his best runs so far have been to gain a yard or two when nothing was there, or getting back to the line of scrimmage when it appears he would take a loss on the play. His skill set is obvious, what you will learn to appreciate about him is that he has a knack for making a play when you need it. He makes himself small around the goal line. He plays smart. Picture Dez Bryant with a high football I.Q. and attention to detail. Willing to do the little things like pick up the blitz for his QB. All of the above is way more impressive to me than the yardage he piled up today. But that too was impressive.

Some have said it was against the Rams, and they have a point. Statistically, the record he set today won't mean much as the psychological impact it had today on the players. Granted, the Rams did suck, but, nothing motivates an O.L. like a guy who can actually run and move the chains. So, I am grateful for the psychological boost I hope out team gained from today. The coaches, the players, and especially the O.L.

Let's look at the other running backs. At one time I thought Choice might turn out to be a good back. I think he has the talent to run the ball, but he appears to be an idiot with a football I.Q. of a third grader. He is unwilling to do the little things like pass protect, which don't show up on a stat sheet but make the difference between winning and losing. I wouldn't let Choice play unless they can get him to pull his head out of his ***.

Felix ..... has straight line speed, but whether it is money, injuries, or weight he gained when he bulked up .... he just doesn't seem to have any elusiveness, or a knack for finding the hole. His lack of TD production for a starting running back is abysmal. Some of that may be play calling, but Felix really isn't taking many to the house like most of us thought he would when he was drafted. I think he should be used more in the passing game rather than as a primary back. I'm not ready to write him off, but his production does not match who we all thought he would be.

Tanner definitely has the fire in his belly. I like that. Rookies tend to bring that to the table. I'm not sure what we have yet with him, as his PRO body of work is too small, but you have to be encouraged by what you see in him.

Records sound great and we all love to see our cowboys break them. On the other hand Murray collapsed on the run where it looked like he had broken free late in the game for a reason. I think he was protecting his hammy. If we had run a few more running plays for Murray and lost him for another 6 weeks you guys would have been calling for Garrett's head.

Congratulations to DeMarco Murray. That was a great game. Dallas needed that game, because I think the running game will be their life in the NFC East. There will be no big winning without a running game, and the run blocking was very good today. The Cowboys found another weapon today.

It sure would be nice if some Cowboys fans could give a guy his due or state their opinion without having to slander or libel another player on the team (Felix Jones). I'm not talking about just on here. Everyone has a right to like who they want or have favorites, but defaming another player is wrong. It's dead wrong.

Felix Jones is an explosive, dynamic running back, and he played with Darren McFadden. Jones is a very competitive player, and we have seen that in Dallas, too. Some may want to "write him off", but the 155 total yards that he hung on Washington should give you some pause. He did it on 17 touches, too. Before it's all said and done, Felix Jones is going to have a big say in who wins the NFC East, I predict.

Dallas appears to have found another weapon at running back. That is a good thing, not a bad thing. One played at Arkansas, and one played at Oklahoma. Both states are Cowboys country. That is a good thing.

Fans can have their favorite, but why can't the fans like both of them? I'm sure the players like one another. They are on the same team, and I've heard both players talk very positively about one another.

Today was Murray's day, and he had a great one.

I wish the Cowboys would run it 35-40 times per game, because they have two running backs who are a real strength in the backfield.

I'm looking forward to Murray running all over the Eagles or "The Dream Team"!

As a rookie who has the most rushing yards in a single game? Did some research but came uo empty

Vikings Adrian Peterson. He had a 296 yard game rookie year.

Cowboys now rank 13th overall in rushing yards in the NFL with 119.7 yards per game. :)

4th overall in passing yards.

14th overall in opponents passing yards.

1st overall in opponents rushing yards.

Loved what I saw today, but I'll temper my excitement... The Rams defense SUCKS, I'll wait until he shows some consistency before I'll change my mind and believe that he's any better than Jones, Barber, Choice, Jones... Today was a really good start though...

Barber or Choice never had this kind of speed. Felix will remain the starter, but for now, Murray should start over Choice next game.

Choice is done.

It wouldn't shock me to see him cut.

That could happen. Given the play of Tanner yesterday and the fact that Choice is a FA at the end of the year so the likelihood of him having a future in Dallas is slim to none. If I had to take a guess nothing will be done until Felix returns to the lineup

I realize Murry put up his huge numbers against the Rams, but so what. Every back in the NFL plays against bad teams every year. Every single one of them, and guess what, only 8 in the history of the NFL have put up a bigger rushing total in a single game. Only 8 in the HISTORY of the NFL!!!!!! No other Dallas Cowboy has EVER put up a bigger rushing day in the HISTORY of the franchise. That includes some pretty good backs with the names of Smith, Dorsett, Hill, Thomas, etc. Every one of them ran against some bad teams as well throughout their careers, yet Murray owns the team record after only one game as the featured back. As I said before, everyone knows the Rams are a bad team, but they're still an NFL team and what Murray did yesterday should not be dismissed because of it. Does anyone think any other back will put up more than 253 against them the rest or the season? Remember, it's only been done eight times in history and that's against all NFL teams combined. Puts it in perspective, doesn't it.

question, on the last run by Murray, he broke some tackles but as he was running he just dropped to the ground untouched. Scared the crap out of me, when they do that, usually its a hami, but he got up and got no attention on the sideline. is he OK? any info is appreciated.

I think it was just a way to protect the ball. He had defenders closing in on both sides and he just went down to avoid the strip. He got right back up and later came back into the game.

He was gassed on that run, he knew he was not going all the way so he made sure he protected the ball and went down. He did take some ribbing on the sidelines. That was the most action he has seen in a while.

*We wasted a 3rd rounder on him...

*He goes down on first contact....

*He tries to bounce everything outside...

*He's useless between the tackles...

Did I miss anything?

Spot on!

Thanks for reminding me.

I have Chris Johnson in two of my fantasy leagues.

He's killing me.

I avoided him in every fantasy league. I just had this feeling that with no offseason, and then holding out longer and getting in so late, that he was going to struggle this year.

I'm glad I avoided him.

On a side note I took a chance, late in both of my drafts, and picked up Murray. Saturday night I started him in both leagues cause I just had a feeling he was going to have a solid game.

Man am I glad I made those moves as well. :)

so was emmitt a fat piece of crap when he held out thru the regular season?

i hate when fans like you sit on your couch and speak on issues you have no clue about. you are not in his shoes, so you wouldn't understand he is looking out for his family in the long run by getting some financial security while playing a sport and a position that could end his ability to provide for his family any second.

99% of us would do the exact same thing in his position.

Emmitt had no contract is the first thing.

Emmitt had just helped win the Superbowl.

Emmitt was the best back in the NFL and there was really no real competition other than Sanders and it was pretty clear Emmitt was better.

Vastly different situation though I do agree with you about not understanding why people get mad when athletes hold out for more money. If you've got the ability to demand a certain amount of money for what you do then by all means get your money.

Yeah, like the worthiness of Laurent Robinson to be a 3rd WR.

Ouch.

Nice.

AdamJT13;4197143 said:
Emmitt didn't have a contract when he "held out." He honored every contract he ever signed.

Chris Johnson was under contract for two more years and chose not to honor his contract.

Huge difference.

Agreed.

Not to mention, as I said, it was clear to most people, I believe, that Emmitt was the best back in the NFL at that point.

Chris Johnson is great, without a doubt, but he's not the best. That title belongs to that fella up in Minny.

I'm just happy I started him on my fantasy team...almost didn't..

Me too. Started him in both my leagues Saturday night cause I had a feeling.

I'm glad I had that feeling and I'm even more pleased that he did a lot more than I expected. lol

does not change the fact that there have been players before that had huge games then disapeared. We should by now have learned the lesson to not get too high on a young player OR TOO LOW ON ONE EITHER.

It's not a debate who starts.

For now it's not. When Felix is healthy it will become one.

He looked off balance and just went down to protect the ball. Good for him.

I wish Dez would do that. The 1st time he fumbles after not going down people are going to flip.
