Was it just me, or did it seem that if Demarco Murray would have kept moving straight up the sideline, he would have scored untouched on that long run? It kind of looked like a run against the Rams where he voluntarily went to the ground as 2 defenders were converging on him

I wonder, it seemed that he just decided to go smash some Giants defenders and abandon the unblocked lane to the end zone.

Either that, or he just decided he didn't want to be tackled from behind and risk an injury to his leg or ankles.

What do you think?

Demarco has to be the slowest looking fast man ever...He made 3 cuts last night that I did not understand. I guess I cant complain too much. He had 130.

idk. I think murray was gassed. His stamina needs work lol. That play should have been 6. Dez had murray blocks if murray could of picked up alittle more speed and made it to the endzone.

Or maybe the extra weight kind of effects him. He is about 14lbs more than he was at the combine when he ran the 4.37.

I think he thought they would catch up to him so he tried to make something happen.

He'll realize his mistake when he sees the film.

That's not the first time Dez has blocked downfield on a long Murray run. He is good at that (when they don't bump into each other :D).

If we had lost, he would be partly to blame just like last year when Witten was forced out at the 1 by a guy 70 pounds lighter and a foot shorter.

There's already a thread about this. That being said, yes, it did look like he had an unimpeded path to the end zone and shouldn't have cut inside.

Personally I feel like he was winded and looked for contact so he tried to fight and get as many yards as he could.

I was thinking the same thing, why did he cut back in. We know what we saw from out TV angle, maybe he saw something else. I also think he was gassed.

It was humid as hell there last night (and here too for that matter) and too me it looked like both defenses looked gassed at the end. I do think our D looked less gassed than the Giants D so maybe we won the conditioning battle. Thanks Woicik.

...he should have stayed on the sideline and followed Bryant's block as long as he could. A TD was very possible in that play.

It kind of reminded me of that last long run he had against St Louis last year where he just ran out of gas...except he got tackled this time rather than falling down.

Quite possibly, he couldn't keep up with Dez and that would of resulted in him being tackled because there were Giants behind and next to Dez. So maybe the only way in his mind he could score a td was to cut back because I'm assuming that there was not one Giant in the middle.

Hindsight is 20/20. DeMarco, likes contact, not one for running out of bounds. He' learn when its appropriate and he will just get better. I dont think he was winded, I think it was just an instintive move.

"He likes to finish runs like all great backs do"-Jason Garret.

Excuses, if Jones did that people would be merciless in their criticism.

Well then his instincts are wrong. It's simply a fact that if he sticks to the sidelines, he's gaining more yards than he did.

It definitely looked like it should've been 6 and he made a mistake, but I figured he was either gassed or he just misjudged the angles and thought he had a chance to run over somebody instead of get shoved out of bounds in the middle of the play.

Murray likes to cut behind defenders, against the direction of their momentum. He just misjudged this one.

I was thinking that he was running out of gas and was thinking that the defender behind him (Corey Webster) was going to tackle him from behind just like the tackle that broke his ankle last year. I really think that may have factored into his decision to cut back inside. Webster was also running out of gas BTW.
