News: DeMarcus Lawrence has back surgery

Wasn't he out for months due to this procedure?

No.
He had a herniated disc repaired via scope in Dec 2013, for which he was out of offseason work until March. Then he had an unrelated fracture in 2014.

All are completely healed, and were not problematic this year.

I was talking about the cyst removal. He was out for a couple of months. He had the surgery in May, and didn't return until August, I believe.

Regarding the completely healed back, it hasn't really been battle tested, considering he only played in a few of games.

I know that this won't be an easy question to answer, from the start. How long do you expect Tony Romo to be able to stand full rigors of the franchise quarterback, if he receives the repair on his collar bone and proceeds from this point forwards?

And thanks for such targeted analysis already.

Didn't see this anywhere but anoqther player getting surgery a month after he could have....... thoughts?

Well, let's face it - Tony's getting old (just not nearly as old as we are).

With age, connective tissue gradually loses pliability, and articular cartilage shows wear and can more easily be damaged. Anyone of his age playing a contact sport is injury-prone, so the key is to limit contact. The 'Boys have a great OL, and I suspect that protection of the QB is job one.

There's nothing wrong with his throwing anatomy, and that's a big plus. Remember, Peyton had that neck injury with nerve impingement that affecting his right shoulder and arm strength; this is a permanent impairment.
(I hope he wins next week, and can retire on top)
Tony also doesn't have knee, foot, or hip problems, nor does he have an extensive concussion history.

Statistically, his next injury would most likely be a knee. If the OL can protect him, he could last another 2-3 years. If.
