Is there any reason to be optimistic based upon what you saw in real life? Can we expect some Haley-like impact ultimately, while giving us flashes of brilliance this season to make some stops or are we still going to see guys like McCoy chilling in the back-field?

I haven't seen him in person taking reps.

That being said, as a rookie coming off of an injury, the best that the Cowboys can hope for is that he can create pressure in 15-20 quality snaps per game. He has the disadvantage of not having any preseason reps in games, and no live reps for 8 games. He is truly at the beginning of his learning curve. If anyone is expecting that he will come in and tear it up, you may want to temper those expectations.

not sure why anyone would expect a haley like impact from him but from reports in camp it appears he is good off the edge. he is a rookie so he will have some struggles but when he can just go after the qb i think he can have some impact.

This season he just has to be better than Lavar Edwards / Jack Crawford. There is a high probability that he can do that.

I don't know how we expect Haley like impact out of a rookie.

If he gives us anything decent, at all, on even a semi consistent basis it's an improvement over what we've got going on right now.

sadly, Carver might start on this team (and I love this bunch of guys)

LOL Carver STARTED for us in our championship year. Granted, it was when Haley went down but he started nonetheless. As of right now.....I don't think he'd start or even get any playing time with this bunch.

I was just being a little melodramatic. I just wanted to know, based on what people actually saw in practice in the off-season or heard before he got injured anything to make us optimistic, especially with Spencer looking like he's a little healthier coming off the other side.

He started 3 games in 1995.

Judging just off of what the coaches and what other players seem to think about the guy, I think he ends up being a significant upgrade for us. Hopefully, it offsets the loss of Durant, somewhat.

Right now I just hope he can help on the pass rush. As for Durant it falls to Hitchens and Wilber. Great thing with Hutchins he has been seeing playing time due to various injuries with Durant, Ro and Carter. he makes some mistakes but he has also made some nice plays and I would think he will improve with more play. No doubt would rather have a healthy Durant but that is not going to happen

why i think that he can come in and help this defense tremendously. He was brought in to Sack the QB nothing else. If he dosent play hard or create pressure right away im looking for a impact player next year at the same position, this defense is one or two pass rushers away and he above all people should know that, and he did get some time in training camp so i dont expect him to be completely green
