I have this feeling that RCF thinks we are trying to develop a gang, instead of a team.

He constantly talks about bringing in thugs as if we are developing the Dallas Crips instead of the Cowboys.

This guy isn't only a Defensive Tackle, he's an pass-rushing defensive tackle. This is what we missing in Jason Fergurson. I believe since Bill Parcells is gone now, he should take his over-the-hill gang with him. Let's go younger.

I like this guy cause he knows how to get to the Quarterback.

As if it's difficult to type Tank Tykler+spit or Tank Tyler+arrested in google.

But since you're not capable....

Here's your PROOF:rolleyes:

Link

Not to confuse you, but Tank and DeMarcus Tyler are the same person.
And this is taken from said link:

"I always lose my temper," he said. "I try to play with a lot of emotion and enthusiasm and sometimes I get to talking back and forth with another player. I don't mean anything personally.

Yeah, that's what we want, right? Someone that always loses his temper. Excellent plan. Never know when that razor edge costs you a bonehead play that makes the difference late in the game. Albert Haynesworth maybe?

It is a good sign that he knows he made a mistake; the question is: will it take a series of mistakes before he realizes what's going on?

Which one of his 5.5 sacks in his 4 year career was your favorite?

That's pathetic.

47 games, 26 starts and 5.5 sacks.

Absolutely horrendous for a "pass rushing" DT.

I think we should consider tank tyler if a few other guys are off the board. His strength was really impressive.

I'm a huge State fan, and he was our only bright spot this year on D. He is a studddddddd, and I would be fine with him having a star on his helmit!

GOOD POINT.

Yall look at players that made many mistakes. Mistakes makes us human. Neither person including myself has the right to judge these guys or is anybetter than these guys.

I just like Talent that's all.

Does he have talent as a pass rusher or did you just make that up?

If you had to come up with a thought of your own would you say 5.5 sacks in 4 years equals a good pass rusher?

Bench Press 225:: 42 times

DT, NC State
War Room analysis

Against the run: Consistently stands his ground against one-on-one blocks. Sheds blocks quickly, and makes tackles on runs at him. Shoots gaps, and makes plays in the backfield. Is good at accelerating to full speed and chasing down running backs outside. Grade: 8.0

Pass rush: Consistently is the first defensive lineman moving at the snap, and pounces on offensive linemen before they get set. Bursts off the snap to get underneath blockers and drive them into the quarterback. Has a variety of quick moves. Pressures quarterbacks consistently. Grade: 8.5

Initial quickness: Moves quickly at the snap, allowing him to defeat offensive linemen in a variety of ways. Gets underneath reach blocks, chases running backs on plays away from him and shoots gaps to blow up plays in the backfield. Grade: 9.0

Run/pass recognition: Diagnosis plays quickly, and has the speed and burst to make the play. Rarely gets fooled by play-action fakes or misdirection runs; makes a lot of play while teammates are lost. Grade: 8.0
Pursuit/tackling: Gets a good jump, and shows the burst to finish the play. Is athletic enough to make tackles on the move, but occasionally runs too upright in pursuit and overruns the ball. Grade: 7.5

Trade upor trade down... I hope they dont sit!!!

Yeah for a defensive tackle. You show me one just as good or better as a pass-rusher....:starspin

Kareem Brown Miami had 8-9 sacks this year. You don't want me to post his career numbers.

Jay Alford Penn State had 8 this year and 8.5 last year. You don't want me to post his career numbers.

Want me to keep going, or do you just want to admit you have no clue what you are talking about and move on?

Or perhaps you enjoy getting clowned.

Doesn't matter I think this kid is going to be good

And I don't care if he's the second coming of Bob Lilly, he's a PUNK, and a threat to get himself suspended...

Hey, I know, let's sign him AND Albert Haynesworth...

and I think if we trade down to aquire more picks he should be our first round.

I think you're bound to be disappointed, if only because Jerry doesn't want to bring in players who are at such high risk of embarrassing their team with their off-field behavior...

I'll judge anybody who's given us such a lengthy list of antisocial behavior at such an early age...

Randy Moss was and is a punk, Maurice Clarett was and is a punk, Tank Tyler was and is a punk... and punks just can't help acting like punks from time to time... so yeah, let's throw millions of dollars at him, then watch him get himself suspended for a full season the next time he gets the urge to take a swing at a cop...

To be honest, I'm completely astounded that you're willing to turn a blind eye to such a pattern of antisocial if not criminal behavior, all because the guy might be able to play a little football... don't you think there are some good players in this draft who haven't acted like thugs??

Here's betting if he came knocking on your door to take your sister out, or your daughter, you'd have a somewhat different attitude toward that punk...

Ahhh, so you're not basing your opinion of him on anything you've actually seen for yourself, you're letting a joke of a magazine tell you what to think...

Never mind that it has already been proven that he provides next to NOTHING in the way of a pass rush... 5.5 sacks in 48 games SUCKS... particularly when you factor in that he only had 6 quarterback PRESSURES... that's less than 2 sacks for every 16 games played... it also means that he either sacked the quarterback, or got pressure on him, ONCE IN EVERY FOUR GAMES...

Still think the Sporting News knows what they're talking about when they say he's a good pass rusher, or do you feel a bit foolish for taking their word for it, without checking a bit more closely for yourself?? I do hope you're not a subscriber to that RAG (which was, 15-20 years ago, a great sports magazine, but is not any more)...

Perhaps if you'd done just a bit more homework, you might have come across a few websites who disagree with the Sporting News... here's what they had to say on the subject at Football's Future:

Tyler isn’t much of a playmaker. He will stop the run, and can get penetration, but he is not going to get to the quarterback very often.

Meanwhile, NFLDraftCountdown says:

Tends to get out of shape and stamina has been a problem...Does not have very good timed speed and lacks a burst to close...Needs to play with more consistent leverage and keep his pad level down...Needs to use his hands better...Only an average pass rusher...Work ethic, intelligence and intangibles are questionable.

NFL.com suggests that the few sacks and pressures he had mostly came when the QB took a 3 step drop, which of course makes it easier to get to the passer if somebody doesn't come open immediately... they go on to say:

If you are looking for a movement-oriented defensive tackle, Tyler is not your man. However, if you want someone to tie up multiple blockers, that is where he excels.

He's a plugger, a clogger, and nothing more... now, that's a nose tackle's main job, so that's not entirely an indictment of him (I'm MUCH more concerned about him being a punk), but the quotes I've provided above clearly show that your claim that he's a good pass rusher is pure GARBAGE...

Warren Sapp had 10 sacks in 16 games last year... Tyler had 5.5 in 48 games, at a much lower level of competition...

Cory Redding had 8 sacks in 16 games last year...

Corey Williams had 7 sacks in 16 games last year...

Vonnie Holliday had 7 sacks in 16 games last year...

Cullen Jenkins had 6.5 sacks in 14 games last year...

Rod Coleman had 6 sacks in 15 games last year...

Darwin Walker had 6 sacks in 16 games last year...

There's 7 defensive tackles who had more sacks in 16 games or less, in the NFL, than Tyler had in the equivalent of THREE 16 game NFL seasons, at the NCAA level...

If I tried to list all the defensive tackles in the NFL who averaged more sacks per game than Tank did in college, the list would probably run 30-40 names long...

But my bad, you said just name ONE defensive tackle who was a better pass rusher... ROTFLMAO...

Chuckle... YOU were the one who asked which DEFENSIVE TACKLES were better pass rushers... when you get a laundry list of players who fit that bill, you then try to change the parameters of your argument...

Well, no matter how you slice it, RCF, 5.5 sacks and 6 pressures in 48 games is next to NO pass rush... particularly when in 2005, he was surrounded by two defensive linemen who were both first round draft picks (one of whom was the number one pick in the draft), and who WERE good pass rushers-- John McCargo and Mario Williams... with the attention those guys got from opposing blockers. it's a safe bet that Tank wasn't getting any double coverage, but he still didn't put up any kind of pass rush numbers...

McCargo had more quarterback pressures in his senior season alone (when he missed half the games due to injury) than Tank did in his entire career... and he barely got on the field as a rookie in the NFL...

Give it up, it has CLEARLY been proven that Tank Tyler doesn't offer a team much of anything in the way of a pass rush... he can tie up two blockers, clog up the middle, and that's about the extent of what he brings to the table...

Which would be OK in a NT-- if he wasn't also a PUNK...
