are we limiting his skills by not letting him play all over the field like he did in college? this young man has a world of talent and in my opinion we need to line him up all over the field, run stunts, etc.

seeing him locked up with opposing 330 tackles is not using this great talent the way he should.

I think Parcells feels that he doesn't want to overload the kid...he's learning a new position as it is...

When ya think about it, our "3-4" is really quite vanilla and has very little of the element of surprise that the typical 3-4 would bring to the game...and a lot that has to do with the fact that we line Ware up on the same side all, he either puts his hand on the ground and rushes the QB...or drops into coverage...it's all pretty conservative stuff because Parcelss has said he doesn't want to give Ware too much to absorb.

Right. However, as our young guys continue to gain experience, that vanilla will slowly transform into rocky road.

The 3-4 allows a defense to disgise a lot of things, so the ability to be unpredictable and aggressive will be there when Parcells decides he wants to slip off the training wheels

I would like to see us get creative...I think Manning is still a pup and if we throw a few things at him that he hasn't seen before, it could result in a key turnover or two.

I just don't see it happening...

Well...that'll probably happen next year...

I'm going to refrain from making an ice cream reference :D

Well....as for me I would like to see the D with a thousand faces come Sunday.

That is if we can confuse Manning w/out confussing ourselves.

Lets not forget, Ware is learning the 3-4 and playing a new position. I'm sure BP is just trying to not overload him like someone stated above. I think we can become more creative next year once we fill a few more holes and all of these young pups have a full year of experience under their belts. Just my 2 cents...

I agree.

A very vanilla 3-4 indeed.

BP said it himself before the season started.
He didn't want to run Ware straight up on OTs all the time or he would just plain burn out.
I'm afraid he might have burned out.

He lined up almost exclusively as a DE in college. He had very little experience even dropping back into coverage prior to being worked out by scouts, so I'm not sure where this kind of Ware was that you're referring to.

Also, in order for him (or Roy) to line up "all over the field" other players would have to cover for him. I'm not sure we have that level of versatility in the other LBers or Ends.

I totally agree. I think the difference between he and Merriman is that Ware actually hasn't been a liabilty in coverage like Merriman has. Ware has done a decent job in coverage for his lack of experience, exceprt for the early re-routing problems. Merriman will probably get more attention because of his sack total, but Sd has put him in coverage less and less as the season has gone on. Also, I disagree with the lining up Ware in the same spot all of the time. I have seen Ware play both sides of the ball for much of the season now.

Exactly.

Yeah, not to mention the fact that our FS is average at best when it comes to coverage skills, and the Henry injury just complicates things even more when we need to bring in 3 corners.

Letting him play all over the field? DE was the only position he played in college...?

Mr Ware needs to contain the run outside and make some noise inside as well. His job is to stop the run primarily. He is still learning how to play pass defense. He's improving and playing well enough for a rookie thrown to the wolves in a new position grossly undersized to play full time DE and part time LB.

I'm really irked about Henry. This is a big advantage for the Giants as Henry played Tiki very well. I fear Barber with his outside runs and cutbacks. Henry made plays in the running game. We are missing him.

I'll be very anxious Sunday. Very. Maybe we can jump out and force Eli to play catch up. Some pressure would be nice.

That is actually correct. He played as DE and is really more all over the field now, than he was in college. Either way, he's learning a new position and he's going against the best tackles in the business. He's just a rookie, give him some time

On the nosey!

He's the guy that gives me the willies for this game. He's become an elite back in the NFL and doesn't get a lot of credit for how good he is...plus, he's a "character" guy...

I'd like to see our defense try to take Barber and Burress out of the game. Those two are Mannings security blankets.

Shockey, for all the talent he has, is still going to drop a few balls and put the ball on the ground...Toomer doesn't scare me at all.
