i know that people have been down on him in recent weeks because of the l ack of sacks, but i wonder how many pressures he has? he was pretty much terrorizing pettigout on sunday. he also has several tackles for losses this year, 8.5 to be exact. that's 5 more than the player on the team closest to him ( roy williams). i've been noticing a lot of double teams on him lately and he seems to be progressing nicely.
If anyone knows of a site that keeps track of qb pressures i would appreciate a heads up.

he appears to be a better run defender than pass rusher, which is ironic.

I wish other teams would forget to block him on a couple of passing plays the way they have on a couple of running plays.

He almost got to Eli on three different occasions....just a little bit late.....he is coming and it will be just a matter of time.....Ware is going to dominate!

yeah, that pressure that caused an INT -- would have prefered a sack there.

I got bashed for starting a thread about him last week, but I actually thought he had a solid game yesterday. I noticed a flaw in his outside rush that I hope he corrects.

He was beating Petigout (sp?) off the snap every play and often got him out of position but what he'd do after that is where he screwed up. He'd always try to run around the tackle cleanly, instead of dipping his shoulder and through Pettigout's outside shoulder. By going a little wider on his rush it allowed Pettigout to reestablish his position.

I don't know if I explained that worth a crap, but if I didn't I'll try and be a little more detailed if anyone is interested.

I know what you are talking about. That is the kind of thing that I figured would take until next season for him to really develop. Looks like he is progressing to me, but my expectations weren't for double digit sacks this season.

I did enjoy his spin in place move he did once. It made me laugh.

Yeah that spin w/o actually going anywhere is a bit annoying. I think he needs to just concentrate on perfecting one move right now, then work on the spin move.

Note to Ware: The spin move mainly only works if you get the tackles feet moving outside. Need to make it look like you're going hard outside, then make contact with the tackle and spin inside.

He actually made the move to the outside and then spun to the outside. Comical.

JFE claimed he had a "monster" game despite zero sacks--you know, the reason we brought him here. Ekuban got pressure too, but he's a goner. Ware needs to emulate his ex-teammate from Troy State and add 25 to 30 lbs to his frame, 'cause this "wide circle around the OT" strategy ain't working.

Ekuban did not get pressures. He did not force the QBs into his teammates. Ware does.

I don't know if he can or should add that much weight. He will probably add 10 at some point in his career. Just get stronger and develop his moves and he will be alright.

Actually I think he is good at both..but needed to learn the run stopping part of his game..he will be fine once he puts everything together..he is learning a new position which requires various tasks.

Ware is pretty scrawny and will likely add 10-15 pounds over the next couple of years on his frame. The extra power should serve him well in the pass rush.

The ability to turn the corner tightly on LTs is what separates great edge rushers from the chaff. It is definitely a skill Ware has yet to develop. Once he gets that and then adds an inside counter he will be a much more effective pass rusher.

If the NFL recorded pressures as a stat, the Dallas Cowboys would probably lead the league.

Agreed on both counts. Which is why even Stephan Jones has commented that they don't expect to see real returns from Ware's ability until next season.

When was the last time you saw a team double Ekuban? Or even consider him in their game plan?

The difference between those two is clear already. In the 4 years he played (not counting the year he missed all but 1 game with injury) he recorded 12.5 sacks. For an average of ... a little over 3 a year.

Demarcus already has 4 sacks with 4 games left. If Demarcus picks up 2.5 more sacks this year he will watch Ek's high as a Cowboy.

Oh yeah -- and Ek never had to drop into coverage.

i think Ware is playing well, I think our biggest problem with him and every other pass rusher we've drafted highly......that fact that we can't coach one up and develop them...
I think part of it is our overall defensive philosophy.
Best rusher we've had was an import....

We didn't bring in Ware just to get sacks. We brought him here to play outside linebacker, which includes playing the run and covering the pass as well as rushing the passer. And like I said a few days ago, a pass-rusher can have a greater impact on plays when he DOESN'T get a sack than when he does. Yesterday, Ware's pressure caused two interceptions (one of which was wiped out by a penalty). He also had six tackles, including two behind the line of scrimmage and four more that stopped runs for gains of only 1 or 2 yards.

If you compare how Ware played yesterday to how he played against the 49ers, Oakland or the first game against the Eagles, I'll take yesterday's performance every time. He had a sack in each of the other three games, but he played better and had a bigger impact in yesterday's game.

I've really been impressed with his ability to shed the blocker and tackle the ball carrier, he did it once or twice yesterday. He maintains good position doesn't get moved out of the play.
