I just thought this was an encouraging piece, from the king of "They are what we thought they were!"

They were analyzing Bill's departure - and wondering why it came now, and Green said he was kind of at a loss, but thought it had something to do with their late season collapse, and he didn't know why that happened.

Then, he said "When we played them in week 9, we thought they were hands down the best team in the league."

Just interesting from a guy who played against the Seahawks, Bears and the AFC West this season.

We were not exactly who they thought we were unlike the Bears who they were who Green thought they were. :laugh2:

We weren't who alot of our fans thought we were. We were executing very well on both sides of the ball, and that came apart late.

I recall an article citing an NFL source, or a former scout, or something like that (yeah, I know  ) earlier in the year that said Dallas' roster was the most talented in the league.

Dallas was a good team at the time. They played with confidence. It just wasn't that one game, either. They played well against Indy the following week, then Tampa and on the big trip to New York.

I know I was only kidding and playing off Greens temper tantrum he threw after the Bears game when he was hollering "They were exactly who we thought they were and we let them off the hook." I think that game sealed Greens fate. I’m sure Coors light will find a way to use that. :laugh2:

Certainly we were the best for a few weeks. I think this is why most reasonable coaches would come in here and tweak things rather than completely redo stuff.

It's also why I can't accept that coaching was the problem late in the season.

If, when the players are executing, they play like the best in the league, produce like the best in the league, win like the best in the league, and are regarded by other HCs as possibly the best in the league - why is it the coaches fault when the players stop executing?

I agree. Huge changes aren't needed. Maybe more aggressive on defense, because the numbers I've seen that compare the times we've blitzed to other teams is pretty shocking. That can mess an offense up, and fire up the defense a little more, maybe they won't get worn out and lose focus down the stretch. But please, let's don't blow it up. Keep the 3-4, keep the offense, just do little things.

I actually caught that last night. IMHO That(the collapse) was the #1 reason for the retirement. He didn't know why like the rest of us but he couldn't deny the team didn't play for him 2 years in a row down the stretch. At 8-4 with the whole thing in our hand we sunk and i'm sure that's what drove him out. The though of his team not responding to him. When i think about it in those terms i'm glad he's gone.

I think the #1 reason why Bill Parcells retired is because he doesn't know if he can fix what's wrong with this team. Its not a matter of adding a new player here or there. I keep thinking back to Michael Lewis article on Bill in the NYT, and keep thinking to the part where Parcells worried how this team folds when they're punched in the mouth.

If it is one or two players not playing well, I would agree with you but when the whole unit(defense) collapsed I think the coachs are to blame more so then the players.

I mean how many TDs did we give up to the FB due to mental break down. I can see that happening in one game but it was happening almost every week. That's bad coaching.

A Rex Grossman led team is playing in the Superbowl!

It's not that difficult to reach the Superbowl these days. God Bless mediocrity!! :)
