Deone Walker-the next Chris Jones or David Irving?

When did Mazi ever say that?

He obviously disappointed in year 1 but he’s shown development this year for sure. If he’s breaks out next year he’s right on schedule for when most young DTs prove their draft value.
its been discussed several times on the board; he says he loves to hit people; not play football

and he will never be worth a first rd pick. Dream on about that

Here was Chris Jones biggest concerns in his original scouting report:

• Terribly inconsistent. Lowest grade of the season came against Northwestern State
• Effort is a concern. Looked to give up on some plays even though he wasn’t playing a high volume of snaps and had more negative grades than you’d like from a top pick.
• Burst off the line is lacking. Has a tendency to get high off the snap and play patty cake
• Didn’t show the change of direction to translate pressures into sacks and bring down quarterbacks

That sure sounds like Walker in a nutshell. Just like Chris Jones he is a raw prospect, but has elite physical traits that are rare. It will be up to Walker if he has the so called "want to" be great as he very well can turn into the next Chris Jones, if he doesn't we are looking at another David Irving, wasted talent.

Chris Jones had top ten talent, but was drafted in rd 2, I see the same with Walker. Will the Cowboys take such a polarizing player if even available on day 2?
Longhorns DT Alfred Collins is rated better than Deon Walker...

Mazi did say it. I saw the video when he said he didn't love playing football but loved hitting other players. Too tired to look it up.

So rumors and fans interpretation of whatever he said. We have no idea what these guys think and believe.

It’s like saying Micah doesn’t care bc he has a podcast.

Dont know the actual quote, but he said he likes hitting people more than he likes playing football.

I dont think his intention was saying he doesnt like playing football. Just kind of the dumb quips 22 years olds make to sound cool. People ran with it as " he said he doesn't like football"

What he was just dumb quip to sound cool. He said he likes hitting people more than playing football. People that wanted to turn it into "he said he doesnt like playing football ", predictably turned it into "he said he doesnt like playing football"

Yup…pretty much the same as “Micah doesn’t love football bc he has a podcast.”

That’s 100% what it was.

I literally just to it again. It’s just an off-hand comment to emphasize how he wants to hurt/hit people, not that he doesn’t care about the game.

For a team that refuses to use FA to fill holes we probably need to be smarter.

Walker has some impressive pash rush tape but the run D for such a large player is underwhelming. Might be an effort issue…Dane says he plays a ton of snaps so who knows.

Team better do a ton of due diligence if they’re interested but there are a handful of DTs I’d take over him.
That’s a good point they take far too many risks for a team that wants to rely on the draft.

He never said it. People been using that misquote to suggest Mazi doesn’t like football. He was trying to say how much he likes to hit people…
