Is there anyone here that suffers from depression?
I have it, and I always find myself down on the smallest things, Im fixing to graduate from high school in a couple of months and I dont know why but I get depressed just thinking about it. I just wanted to know if anyone else here suffers from it.

You don't have to know what you're going to do for a career if you're still in high school. You have a couple more years to figure that out. Get to college, take some 'basic' classes, grow up some more, then figure it out.

Whatever you do, don't be a bicycle maker, though.

If your really struggling to figure it out join the US Army if that is an option, will put you on a good career path plus a nice check to start of with.

ok 1st off I don't know what the Doctor told you but imo I suggest to try dealing with it without medication at 1st. my sister is now on a ton of medication(she's been depressed since around your age maybe a little younger) and I think that the medication not only doesn't help but makes it worse. with that said medication may work for you but like I said try to deal with it or overcome it without medication if you aren't already taking any.

2nd your problem is nothing to be depressed about. I could understand being nervous but don't be depressed. i'm 23 almost 24 and I still haven't figured out what my career will be and i'm doing fine. you still have plenty of time to figure that out.

3rd be happy and proud of yourself for a soon to be high school graduate. It may not seem like much but trust me it is. I got my GED aka the Good Enough Diploma.

don't get on yourself about it cause that will just make it worse. like now you've thought about it so much your asking for advice cause it's putting a damper on your life. relax, enjoy the rest of highschool and in your free time every now and again do some research and explore your options on what you wanna do for a living. but don't burn yourself out doing it. it's better to take your time and do want you want for a living than rush it and wind up doing something you hate.

Nothing cures depression like being shot at in a sandbox. But on a positive note they'll give you free medical to treat it.

Seriously though the first step is to try and find out the root of it. The most important step is finding someone you can talk to. If you thinks its the graduation thing then find someone you can talk to about that. Be it a counselor, advisor, or whatever its very important that ypou can talk to someone so you dont feel you have to carry all the worries alone.

I don't think you're suffering from true depression. I think you just have anxiety issues.

There are very few weeks that go by that I don't regret not being forward thinking enough to join and serve our country.

You are going to feel like a bigger part of the world once you graduate.

I felt when I was in high school I was closed in. Now I didn't realize this until after I was out for a little while, but once you get out into the world via college/work you will see things much differently. Those silly clicks and labels placed on people start to fade and you realize they were only recognized by you and your peers.

If you live in a small town I would suggest some traveling once school ends. There are things out there which can spark an interest and from there your life takes a whole bunch of twists and turns. That's fun for most people.

I am 38. And I would guarantee you at least half the population of 38 year olds would love to go back and be where you are right now.

Embrace this time bro.

Might be a silly analogy but here goes.

You are in training camp. You got a whole season ahead of you.

And as we see every year there are a whole bunch of ups and downs on the way. Keep your head up and just keeping taking in information each and every day and I am sure you will find your way.

Have you discussed this with anyone? Parents, close friends or even someone at your church (if you go). The worst thing you can do is keep it bottled up, because it will not get better that way. This is a common issue and the feelings you have can be caused by a variety of different things.

Please consider that you don't have to go through your life in a constant state of depression. Discuss it with someone you know and trust and take the steps necessary to get better.

College was the best time of my life, if you're depressed about finishing high school don't be, life gets so much better and your world will seem so much bigger just a year from now. if you can't go to college right away work for a few years and save up, set your self goals and as long as you're working towards those goals your life will never seem meaningless

Please do not follow this advice if you are depressed.

Dumbest thing I have seen in a long time.

Someone who is depressed does not need to take on the most stressful job in the world.

Go see a psychatrist, they can get you on some medication to help you in the short term and help you talk through the issues that are causing the depression. Depression, especially at your age is nothing to mess with, get some professional help. Good luck!

As a fellow Cowboys fan,

I would suggest finding a good CBT therapist.

Usually the first thing is behavioral activation.

Find something that you once found pleasurable and DO IT. Even if it is just a walk to the park and swinging on the swing for 20 minutes.

The hardest thing for those who are depressed is to get started because thoughts start intruding.

A book I would highly recommend is called "The Happiness Trap," and it is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an offshoot of CBT.

A great workbook is called "Mind Over Mood: Change How You Feel by Changing the Way You Think"
