Any DT you could get for him probably wouldn’t make the rosterTrade Sam Williams for a defensive tackle....

How much value do you think he has? You keep him for sure so he can give something after last yearTrade Sam Williams for a defensive tackle....
Eh, after studying how Eberflus stops the run, I agree with you. His scheme uses stunts and cutting off and clogging lanes as a group, and it works out pretty well. How much value do you think he has? You keep him for sure so he can give something after last year
What I mean is I don’t think Jerry scouted Mazi and overruled his scouts and pounded the table for him. Certainly he deserves blame but we know Jerry if he had his way wouldn’t draft a DT.It is part of the duties of a GM. It's all on him. The 3 super bowls, the 30 years of flailing miserably, all of it. That is what the role of a GM entails. Those scouts you're blaming? Who hires them.........
He plays a premium position where teams absolutely need talent to win. He has had 9 sacks in under 600 snaps his first two years. His trade value wouldn't be what it was last year pre injury, but I think we could get a decent player for him. I think if we moved him to Seattle, we could get Kenneth WalkerI may be a minority of 1 but I would like to see them keep Sam Williams and see how he performs this year. His trade value now is close to 0 anyway coming off injury. The trade deadline is October 31st . Maybe if he plays well the first 2 months of the season his trade value will increase.
You’d have to give me some names to consider.I mean, what if we get equal value for a player at DT?
Don't get me wrong. I like Sam's potential.
It would be nice, but I dont see it. No one really available. IMO if you do player for player, HB might your best bet at good trade as there are a few starting caliber guys that have been dangledYou beat me to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same here. Its easy to just name a position, but who is available at that position. You’d have to give me some names to consider.
Not resigning hankins was a mistake we could use him right nowAnd yet, when moderately talented Hankins was here, we suddenly were able to stop the run. How Jerry doesn't even notice this is beyond bewildering.
I’m not gonna scapegoat Jerry on this one….he pays millions to scouts….McClay as well. Mazi doesn’t strike me as a guy Jerry wanted. The pounded the table for a DT….and no matter how good or bad he was in college he was a good prospect. He should’ve been much more productive then he is. A lot of it is self inflicted by the Cowboys changing coaches and asking him to lose weight.
Mazi was not good in college and has poor lateral agility and tends to be late off the snap.
Does Jerry even know what lateral agility is and how it affects a player's success? I doubt he does, as he drafted and counts on players such as Jalen Tolbert, whose failures to be better come down to exactly that.
He is not. He is a very bad run stopper. @Pass2Run said the same about Payton Turner and Turner is one of the worst run defenders in the NFLCurious. Where did you hear he's a run stopper? I've heard the opposite.
Which means he is 100% to blame. DTs are the heart of super bowl teams. Over and over and over, you see weaknesses at other positions, but not DT. KC vs PHIL, Chris Jones and Jalen Carter. KC vs SF, Chris Jones and Javon Hargrave. What I mean is I don’t think Jerry scouted Mazi and overruled his scouts and pounded the table for him. Certainly he deserves blame but we know Jerry if he had his way wouldn’t draft a DT.
That's what I'm hearing/reading, so it sorta shocked me to see someone saying he was a run stopper. He's quite simply an Osa clone. He is not. He is a very bad run stopper. @Pass2Run said the same about Payton Turner and Turner is one of the worst run defenders in the NFL
More picks that show McClay isn't everything this board hypes him up to be.The Jones wanted Bergeron in 2023. McClay andnthe defensive staff wanted Smith
Id say a cheaper version of Golston who turned out to be a decent rusher but a pretty underwhelming run defenderThat's what I'm hearing/reading, so it sorta shocked me to see someone saying he was a run stopper. He's quite simply an Osa clone.
I never said DT wasn’t important. They can’t find one. Specifically a 1 tech.Which means he is 100% to blame. DTs are the heart of super bowl teams. Over and over and over, you see weaknesses at other positions, but not DT. KC vs PHIL, Chris Jones and Jalen Carter. KC vs SF, Chris Jones and Javon Hargrave.
Yes, the Qb is the biggest factor, no one is arguing that. DT, however is a close 2nd. What the DTs do is makes every position on D better. There is not another position on the D that affects every other position even close to the way the DTs do.
You nor no one else knows what McClay is responsible for.More picks that show McClay isn't everything this board hypes him up to be.
That's an assumption about why they brought him here for Eberflus' scheme, which utilizes stunts to clog lanes and fill up the gaps.He is not. He is a very bad run stopper. @Pass2Run said the same about Payton Turner and Turner is one of the worst run defenders in the NFL
