Depth Chart, where things stand at OT

Steele did show considerable improvement as the season progressed.

I think a change from Solari as offensive line coach will be a good thing for him.

And Steele has proven he can play the position before. Was a solid RT at Texas Tech then as a pro prior to injury.

Guyton has literally NEVER been good at LT. EVER. On any level of the sport.
He was a tight end in high school then appears in 9 games over two seasons at TCU that was awful at OU post transfer and drafted on pure potential.

He is very athletic but shows no signs of being able to play the most demanding position on the OL.

The second half of the schedule was significantly softer. Hopefully his back to normal this year.

IMO:

LT: Tyler Smith
LG: TJ Bass/Hoffman
C: Beebe/Hoffman
RG: Tyler Booker
RT Terence Steele

Swing OT: Tyler Guyton.
Interior swing: Hoffman
8th man: Asim Richards.
4th interior: Rob Jones

That OL is mid-league at worst.

Not saying anyone needs to be an all pro to see the field, but you can't draft guys and hand them starting positions when they clearly are not ready. Guyton way possibly the worst starting Tackle in the league a season ago. You can't claim to be serious about winning a championship while sending out that big of a liability week after week at LT. It was a major mistake to hand him the job last season, Jerry even admitted so himself not long ago.
The vast majority of Guyton's college snaps were at RT/HBack. They thought they could put him at LT because we badly needed one with Tyron finally moving on, but he was as bad as anyone could have imagined.
It would not be a bust to move a guy drafted 28th to RT and let him start there coming year 3 and save you 16.5M a year(by cutting Steele).

Even as a swing OT in year 2 at just under 3M in cap cost, he would be a good value.

I doubt Steele is getting any better than he was last year.
Guyton needs to take a big step
Richards we need to see more of

That is only in case of emergency

there is no way they're moving Smith unless they absolutely have to..

so they're going to give everyone else a shot before that happens but I would be okay with that lineup but there's a reason they're trying to keep Smith who is probably an all pro at left guard but only could be maybe a pro bowler at left tackle at best..

I think people think he's a lot better left tackle than issues that are developing right now maybe he actually is you guys are wanting it in your brains... I think they know he can just be a good left tackle but how much better is he than what we have there but you're weakening in my opinion you're taking an all pro out of a position that's why they haven't done it and probably won't do it unless it's absolutely dire... I don't care how good Hoffman or Booker turn out to be they're not all pros not yet we don't know what they're going to be so you're removing an all pro from left guard and putting him out to a position he might just be kind of good at you have to weigh that of maybe weakening two positions just to help one..
Well when you put it like that I would have to agree with you

Break glass only for emergency.
