Depth is a major problem

I like our draft somewhat but you gotta fill depth on your roster. You can take one non-need pick but not back to back.

Plus, Lee is no guarantee. His video and athletcism looks sub par.

BTW, we did draft a backup there. One who may be Carp 2.0. So, let's go get a future starter at a position of need instead. Just can't understand. Especially giving up the 4th.

If we keep the 4th, we can take an Oline and DB in 4. But now we can't. Game over with one injury

Wow, I didn't realize our roster is set and we aren't allowed to add any more players....now I am really starting to get worried  ...

What players? Have you seen the vet cuts after June 1 the last few years? And this year has no cap, so there will be even less.

Plus, Jerry is acting like we don't need vets.

I hope they realize this and pick someone else up. I hope you are right, but there has to be somebody out there

Actually the reports have been the there will be even more cuts after the draft than normal this year. Since there is no cap, there will be no hit to take for releasing players.

False, false, and false. We've got nothing at safety.

Scandrick doesn't have the ball skills or tackling ability to play safety. He's got solid man coverage skills and athleticism so he's developing into a solid corner, but he doesn't translate to a ball-hawking safety.

Allen Ball hasn't shown anything. If you think he's a starter on any other team, you're as bad of a talent evaluator as Jerry Jones is. Sharply overestimating the talent already on the roster is his M.O. This is why we felt we had no needs heading into the draft.

Watkins has been gift-wrapped the starting job on several occasions, but he's consistently fooled in coverage. He's just a dumb player that plays well on special teams.

Morgan Burnett would've been outstanding in the 2nd.

You mean the Allan Ball that started and the defense played better with Hamlin on the bench due to injury. A guy that came in and played like a solid but unspectacular pro and helped the defense go on a good run. Is he a stud FS no but their are not many out there and he did not suck and played solid all year for us. Again more over reaction from fans because we did not draft their pet cat and what ever position they determine was a need. This was a good draft so far no reaches not one was a bad pick by the data we have and the rating we have

Are we talking about the same player? Alan Ball. The guy that didn't intercept a pass and notched 3 defended passes all year. I don't know what goggles you're wearing, but a 195 lb safety without a career interception should be a red flag.

Morgan Burnett at 59 and we still have the 4th round pick.

Wade Phillips himself said that Ball played well, filling in for a injured K. Hamlin last year. The Cowboys are also high on M. Hamlin.

Yes in what 5 games he started like I said solid then again I am not expecting 8 picks from the guy it is not Ed Reed. The guys that should me making more int is the CB that is where all our talent is and funny thing 23 guys are ranked top 12 in int totals last year the top 4 2 cb 2 where safeties tied at 9 the next group tied at 6 int where 5 CB one safety.

Out of the 23 (a lot of guys where tied at 12) only 6 where safeties the rest where CB so the issue is only Jenkins out of the CB made that list and our LB did not do squat and here is the list of the top 6 safeties

Jarius Byrd Buffalo (terrible team) 9
Sharpe NO (SB Chmaps) 9
Nick Collins 6 (GB playoff team) 6
Tanard Jackson (Tampa terrible team) 5
Brand Merriweather (NE Playoff team) 5 SS
Andre Wilson (AZ Playoff team) 5 SS

So having a safety does not guarantee a dam thing it can help and our SS was playing with one hand. Cincinnati had two CB with 6 int and still got put out in the 1st round. Part of the issue is the style defense Wade plays where everything is kept in front of us do not give up the big play.

Greenbay had 15 int between FS and CB and guess what they got torched most the season.

It is more than just Int in fact Dallas issue period is int, fumbles etc making stops on 3rd and long and so on and so forth. How about Newman or Scandrick step up and make some picks. When was the last time the LB made 1-2 picks it is a team thing with TO not just a safety. So it can come from any player we just need more production period

We're not even done with the draft, let alone free agency and we're complaining about depth.

Settle down people.

Wade Phillips himself said that Ball played well, filling in for a injured K. Hamlin last year. The Cowboys are also high on M. Hamlin.

Wade doesn't give objective evaluations in front of the media. Everything is always rosey with the guy.

Interception tirade

I don't get your point. Did you expect the interception leaderboard to only contain players from playoff teams?

I was clamoring for a playmaking safety with range and instincts. Allen Ball is not that.

Ok, draft is over and most of uDFA...

Anybody honestly feel good about our depth at Oline or S or CB?

Didn't think so...

Gotta pray somebody's cast off can make up for the possible injuries

I don't understand the problem with our safeties. We have DEPTH there. Ball/AoA at FS, Sensy/Mike Hamlin at SS. A lot of teams would kill just to have that. We don't have Ed Reed so the sky is falling I guess. You know AoA was the fastest defensive back drafted right? He's a man corner, and we're putting him at FS, you do the math.

Oline is a concern yes. Basically our only concern now. We're going to nab some cut players, players on some practice squads. Would I have liked some better lineman? Of course. Would I have given up a Dez or Sean Lee for a lineman? No.

No one needs to pray, every year guys get cut and free agents come available.

every year. Only you guys forget that. You go pray for a better memory.

You're doomed to be horribly disappointed this year . . .

Yeah, I feel good about it, actually.

Watch the most recent press conference and it is clear that Jerry understands the situation and plans to sign a few veteran backups.

But there is also good news in this for people who like to bellyache and troll.

Once the backups are signed, you'll still be able to wax depressive about how bad the situation is. You'll always be able to claim that the veteran backups aren't good enough.

The problem at Safety is we are counting on Ball to be our depth at Safety and CB. He is starting at Safety now, but he's also our 4th best corner.

If you subtract him from corner, our 4th corner is Cletis or Wall. Not good.

Plus, our backup safeties are trash too (Hamlin too slow and Watkins proven bust)

IF we sign some veteran backups I might feel better. BUT, who at this stage is dumping solid veterans?

I've heard many times before that there will be some after June 1, but never seems to materialize.

Plus, you can't count as depth unknown mystery players who might be out there

At two positions.

One injury and our season is over

one CB or Safety injury and we are screwed.

Even if you love Sean Lee, how can you feel good about this? There's really nobody in free agency.

I hate this... I loved Dez pick but now I think we have a repeat of 2008, where injuries sink a promising year.

I guess we're gonna call up 1-800-CB and 1-800-oline after the draft?

What does this question even mean? Dumb dum dum dum dum

I am not one to panic. I am an optimist.
What veteran free agents? Not gonna happen...

Undrafted free agents are always such great players their first year, too.

Honestly, Carp was a serviceable backup for one more year. We took someone to replace him. We acted like our draft picks were a luxury. We will regret it.

Wowzers!!!

This used to be me. Thank goodness I grew up!!!

Dude, you are in classic overreaction mode right now. The season didn't start today. There will be plenty of moves made in the coming weeks and Jerry will be in on a couple of them.

Don't take my advice though. Keep the overreactions coming. You're giving me great comic relief on a lovely Sunday morning.

If we can somehow still land a decent FS in the offseason I think we'll be fine. People are freaking out over Free because of 1 game, every other game the guy was very impressive(people seem to not mention that)

Depth and injuries are always a concern, but EVERY team has those same fears.
