Media Hyped kid? Manziel had 2 insane yrs in the toughest conference in college. Its not hype

Also people ununderestimate the guy. Check out the Alabama lost in 2013. Without a defense that guy almost single handed beat those guys, while coming back from a huge deficit.

two things that could derail him: not being able to stop taking off when his first read is covered; and not learning that running QBs bigger then him have been busted to pieces because they ran too much.

Even with the new rules he will get worked pretty much every time he runs and I don't think he is sturdy enough to take that kind of pounding for long.

He will become smarter, in both his run and passing game. JF has show a great deal of growth from freshman to a softmore. The sky is the limit.

not sure how you can suggest that anyone underestimates a guy that has likely received the most hype ever in college football

the fact is that people see his obvious deficiencies and are not convinced that he will succeed in the NFL, when your second read is to run, that is not good

As a softmore i have seen him run to extend the play a lot. But i notice 80% of the time JF will take the ball for yardage when the pocket completly collapse.
To be honest JF game is very similar to Romo. But JF is a better version with stronger legs.

IMO romo is much better than JM because he sees the field, feels the pressure, delivers the ball on time and usually makes decisions that productive NFL QBs do and takes off only as a last resort

JM has one read and his second is to get out of the pocket
that will require a LOT of retraining and he may never get rid of it

i would take romo any day of the week over JM and it is not close

JMO of course :)

While I understand why a lot of people would be upset if we drafted JF, I'd be okay with it myself. Loved watching him play in college. Same with Mike Evans, I also wouldn't cry if he was drafted by the Boys, although my first choice would be Donald or another defensive player.

You cannot know that he will get smarter and be able to control his impulse to run. Many QBs just like him never have.

Manziel is overhyped and a bust waiting to happen. He is too small to take the hits that NFL QB's take. He feasts on lackluster competition but in big games he does not win.

Did I mention he loves to throw the ball in double coverage where his WR's bail him out? Yeah that will not translate to the NFL. Oh and his punk attitude drive me off of the wall.

Ughhh Romo does not when big games but he is the GOAT around here. Yea he throws the ball in double coverage because he has trust in Mike Evans, something Romo does not in Dez. Also didnt JF and Evans work out together before the combine??? Sorry those guys are bonded so there is trust behind those guys.

The point is that most balls in the NFL that get thrown into double coverage unless you have megatron get PICKED OFF.

In the college ranks Mike Evans is Megatron. Those two has to do something right. JF throws in double coverage and Evans catches it....or JF with his insane skills throws the ball to a location where only Mike Evans can catch the ball and Evan do what he do.

Hey JF may be the man he may not...if be is not there at 16 who cares. I been checking out a new sleeper from a small school Dray Jospeh. A perfect udfa for this team.

I thought this thread was about Derek Carr? This Johnny Manziel guy should get a thread of his own.

I'm not sold on Murray. I'm tired of small body, weak armed qb's. I want a qb that can throw a receiver open down field instead of them having to come back to the ball and getting tackled. I love Romo. Don't take it wrong. I don't believe we win half of what he have if we don't have him but it would be nice to get someone that can throw it downfield consistently.

I can understand the issues you might have with his size. I don't believe it's all that bad at 6-1 and 208 but again, I can understand the concern. I like QBs who are a little bigger my self. However, the weak armed issues I don't agree with. Murray has a very good arm and throws with excellent velocity. He can make all the throws IMO. I don't really have a problem with that part of his game.

I'll tell you something about Carr. What concerns me about him is the fact that he's pretty much only played from the spread. He is not very good at all from under center and it's all about lack of experience. He's never really played in that style of offense. That can coached but still, that's a bit of an issue IMO. However, if your talking about playing for the Cowboys and you assume that Garrett remains the HC here, then that's probably not a real issue. When's the last time you saw Dallas run anything from under center with any amount of regularity?

The other thing is that unlike his brother, Derek Carr is both physically tough and mentally tough. This is a kid who played the entire 2012 seasons with a Sports Hernia/abdominal tear. I really believe that this is a big part of why he's never really been developed from under center. Really tough to move around when you have that kind of injury but that's just my own opinion on it. In 2013, he also dealt with his young Son's health issues, which required surgery. 23 days in the hospital to repair his young Son's intestinal issues. Only missed two practices the entire time. BTW, his Son's name is Dallas. His OC at Fresno State is Dave Schramm (no relation to Tex Schram as far as I know but thought it was interesting).

There is a lot I really, really like about this QB.
