You're missing the whole point of this post. NOBODY is saying Zeke is running like he did in 2016. He's not, that's fact, just look at the stats.
What they're complaining about is that he no longer does it, and therefore they're upset at what he's getting paid. But he was paid based MOSTLY on what he had done before the contract extension - 2 rushing titles, average well over 1,200 yards a year (extrapolating his season with the 6 game suspension), blocking skills, etc. and also on what you could expect, based on his previous years, to do the same or similar in the next few years. If you don't think, as Sydia and a few others have, that you NEVER pay that kind of money to a running back, then what he's doing now makes no difference, he was "behind the 9 ball" from the get-go, no matter what he did he shouldn't have been paid.
No he's not doing as well as Henry is, this year, and maybe the year before. But IT DOESN'T MATTER, he got the extension, that's not changing.
If you've given up on Zeke, fine, that's your view. But if he returns to form next year, with Smith and Collins back alone, even if nothing else changes, don't come here lauding him, because you didn't give him a chance. If he doesn't return to form, then I'll be the first to say you were all right. I just choose not to ignore other factors involved in his performance and complain about things that we can't do anything about...
Yes, It does indeed matter that Zeke is Not near up to Henry’s performance or level,-.. because that’s what we drafted him 4th overall for.
yes, It does indeed matter because of what ZKE displayed and demonstrated his impact in the offense and on the entire NFL world… in his first 2 years .
- It does matter about what kind of player he is, can better be, or continues to become because he is much invested into, ..but we’ve seen declining players with mega contracts get cut here
-the latest being Dez Bryant.
We take the big cap hit but we move on to another chapter with the RB, and the move to acquire new one …just as we did with moving on from the chapter of the lead WR, and acquiring
a new one in place.
- The big difference is I believe Zeke can be salvaged, resurrected in the same sense and conditioned that sought to bulk him bigger and re-set him as a bell cow RB.
Vs Dez Bryant who was never a prolific route runner so in terms of footwork and gaining separation, he had nothing else to turn to.
- But as for giving on zeke, that’s when your mistaken again. I’ve long been lobbying issue to not only do I believe what had to happen- for Zeke to have lost his once feared burst.
But I have also been long lobbying to how and what needs to be done to get the improvement and return of 2016 Zeke.
I’m Not into these agendas and biases, and whether some believe a RB is never warranted being drafted that high up in 1st rd, is how they want to view it ….vs what I believe.
