Here's a few:

1) He's rumored to be a pain in the clubhouse. He has fought with coaches in the past, including one massive blow up that was caught on camera during a game. A few Philly beat reporters pointed out this is not the first time he had a meltdown on a coach at a game or a practice. Some even pointed out it was surprising that the Eagles cut Avant and didn't try to resign him to a friendly deal because Avant was the one guy who seemed to be able to control Jackson. Even Vick couldn't and he said so as much when he told the NY media that he hopes Jackson can get his crap in order.

2) There are photos, posted by himself, on Instagram of him with gang members. He actually signed one as a rapper for his label. So while he might not be in a gang himself, he makes no bones about the fact that he has both acquaintences and business relations with known and alleged gang members. He's also posted pictures and been caught flashing gang signs himself. Those connections alone are a major headache.

3) There could be another legal issue hanging over his head as well surrounding his house being broken into a few months ago. It's been rumored that he filed an insurance claim and he might have committed insurance fraud.

4) He has a concussion history and is one big hit from spending a sizeable chunk of time injured. At his size, that's a concern.

I know people don't like the Eagles but they are generally a solid front office. They have the cap space this year and it would make more sense to cut Jackson next year, not this year, for cap purposes. So if they are cutting a 1300 yard WR who really isn't a cap issue for them, then something ain't right.

Thanks for the logical response. I appreciate your taking the time.

I also just read that he is associated with gangs, something I had not heard. I understand taking a pass on this guy now.

It's more than that. He rubbed teammates the wrong way, was getting in fights with assistant coaches (one of which was caught on camera during a game), showed up for meetings whenever he felt like it, etc. Shoot, even Vick kind of outed him saying that he hopes he gets his crap in order.

That's exactly what the Cowboys need. Another prima donna who, best case scenario, will act like a ****** and be a problem in the locker room, or worst case, end up suspended or in jail. And his legal troubles might have little to do with his connections to gang members. There are also rumors coming out of Philly that he might be in trouble for insurance fraud over his house supposedly being robbed.

Not worth the headache.

oh I absolutely think Dallas would be wrong location for Jackson as they have enough resources committed to keeping Dez straight. I just think Jackson will be great value for team that is little older and have strong leadership. But lets not get carried away with thinking this is just another player. He has game changing ability and I think he could be had for about $3 million. KC would be ideal because Jackson respects Reid and KC already has game changer at RB with Jamaal Charles. You combine Jackson with Charles and you have lethal speed on that offense combined with good defense that could make some noise.

He's tough. He's competitive. He's got a great deal of Irvin in him.

In Desean's final year of his rookie contract when the Eagles refused to give him the "#1 WR" type extension he felt he was entitled to you, Jackson all but admitted he played "soft" that season to avoid getting injured. There was no way he was going to miss his big payday no matter what it cost the team. He had a major down season and still demanded the same huge extension after that season.

Furthermore his game is ALL speed - he is not a guy who goes over the middle. Ever. He's small so you can't throw it up and just give him a shot to go get it because he probably won't. He's a guy who makes his yards when he manages to get completely open or with YAC.

I can't think of many worse comparisons to Micheal Irvin the Desean Jackson.

Jackson isn't going to accept $3 million.

The KC defense was terrible the last half of the season. They gave up more yards over the final 8 games than Dallas did.

Reid was paired with DeSean Jackson in Philly along with a game changer at RB in McCoy and the resulting noise was Reid getting fired.

Maybe things might open up for Dwayne Bowe with a Desean Jackson on the field?

thats what Jackson brings (beside the ridiculous 60 catches for 1st downs) is he opens the field. However Alex Smith is more of bus driver so he would pull some of Jacksons numbers down. From a pure statistically view, Carolina would produce biggest numbers for Jackson and that may be were he goes to max. his next contract. All I know is the Eagles are much much less weaker team today.

He isn't the only receiver to have 60 catches for first downs. His 60 ranked 13th last year.

The Eagles had Jeremy Maclin on the field, too when Reid was their coach. He got fired.

I'm not saying Jackson isn't good, but there are limits to the impact a good receiver brings to a team.

Those headaches were not closely affiliated with suspected murderers, either.

One guy has a big mouth, the other cheated on his wife and did drugs. Slight difference, I'd say.

I am not aware of that. I thought he was just causing locker room problems. Murderers? What?.........And like I said in the first post. I dont think we should, I was just saying that "headaches" should not be the sole reason we dont get a player.

This story broke a very short time before the Eagles cut him loose. I don't want this guy any where near the Dallas Cowboys.

Jackson was, however, associated with Theron Shakir, one of the two men charged with the murder. Along with co-defendant Marques Binns, Shakir is a purported member of the Crips. In addition, Shakir, known as "T-Ron," is a rapper who recorded for Jaccpot Records, a label owned by Jackson. The two were close enough that they appear together frequently in photographs -- including pictures posted by Jackson to Instagram while Shakir sat in jail awaiting trial for the teen's execution.
