When watching live, I was amazed at how the blockers got into such a great position, but it didn't hit me until today while re-watching the game that the left tackle was in great position because he was illegally downfield. By the time Jackson catches the ball, the left tackle is nearly 5 yards downfield.

Well that sure helps if a big 350 lbers gets a head start !
Cam lawerence has got to ck the the flat before he goes to the qb. That would help also

He's only 2 yards past the line of scrimmage and literally a step further upfield than a couple other lineman.

It was a well-executed play that I think one of our LBs blew an assignment on.

I believe the rule is within 3 yards of the LOS.....looks legal.

This is not illegal. As long as the pass is caught behind the line of scrimmage, lineman are allowed to go downfield.

Look at some of our screen plays, our lineman are downfield as well.

Hmmm...I don't see that in the rule book, but perhaps I'm missing something.

The problem wasn't the LT, the problem is that there isn't a white jersey on 75% of that picture.

Well, it was the LT that took out Church who was in position to make the play had he not had a 300+ pounder directly in front of him by the time the receiver caught the ball.

The Lb should have went with the WR rather than let him go to the flat alone. He miss reads the play.

Splitting hairs the team got away with one on a Dunbar screen earlier in the year.

Lawrence needed to do a better job on the play, he got sucked in

The play was poorly defended and that had a bigger say in DJax running wide open. I coldn't believe they call the same exact play later in the game and gained 40something yards.

True to Garcon it was the same play. I guess one way to look at his is Marnelli will be getting after guys about this and do something to correct it.

Something is really wrong with that picture. I count 8 defenders that I could encircle by drawing a 6-7 yard circle around them and they are all on one side of the field. Any play designed to go left would be a TD against what I see in that picture. Someone has to be screwing up at the moment that picture was taken.

That is true in college, but not at the NFL level.

Agreed.

As soon as you saw the ball reach Jackson, you could simply look at the screen of the TV and think, "Whoa, this is going to hurt."
