I just loved getting flamed for being in his camp when he was entering the draft.

"Too small"
"Will get killed by big LB's"
"Too short"

God bless Miles Austin, but imagine having DJax in the slot now.

Dude, the Cowboys drafted Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins in the first round that year. Then got Martellus Bennett in the second after all the wrs went.

Man, you didn't even let us "rue" a little bit before shutting down the party. :laugh2:

But seriously, great points. Look, you can't get all the good players out of every draft. Jackson may well be better than Jones and Jenkins, but all three are looking fairly special right now. Certainly not worth gnashing our teeth over.

I hear you and completely agree that The Cat and Jenx were good 1st round pickups. But in terms of needs, I think the great route running WR + punt returner combo was a bigger need for us than another RB. Yes, 84 ran a punt back for a TD yesterday, but anyone in the stands like myself could taken that to the house with the opening he had. Kudos to the ST... Crayton was gifted that TD.

Well, RB was a pretty huge need this time last year. There was no way we could enter a season with only Choice behind Barber. We didn't know if Choice would be any good, and we didn't really know what Barber was either. We absolutely needed a pick like Felix.

And I think the same argument could be made at corner. There's a reason we stockpiled corners last offseason (Jenkins, Scandrick, Pacman). We needed them badly.

Yes, we needed a receiver like what DeSean Jackson has turned out to be. We could also used any number of other players, too. A safety, an offensive lineman, maybe another pass rusher.

Unfortuantely, we didn't have three or four first round picks. All in all, no complains on my end -- even though, yes, Jackson is a much better player than I imagined.

when Jerry said that the draft didnt have any WRs good enough to play in Dalllas.... can anyone expect Jerry draft a WR when they cant scout WRs!

Has Jackson really turned out to be more than what anyone expected? I mean, he obviously was going to be fast and a dangerous deep threat, but is he anywhere close to being a go-to, No. 1 receiver? Or will he always be more of a Santana Moss/Lee Evans type?

You raise a good point, Adam. He's certainly not a guy you just feed the ball to. But he's absolutely more dynamic than I ever imagined. I knew he was fast, but never thought his speed would translate into the amount of big-play touchdowns that it has.

The guy is the real deal. I drafted him in my fantasy team, he has put up good numbers in every game but one.

Eagles has some crazy speed on the field with jackson and maclin and mccoy. I thought he wasn't going to be that great coming out his rookie year but everytime he touches the ball he can take it all the way.

This isnt a great rue.

We got two studs and liked Jackson.

Not as bad as rating Westbrook as an UDFA

I just wish we wouldn't profile receivers to avoid drafting a couple of smaller, quicker guys like D. Jackson, Johnny Knox, or Eddie Royal. Dallas will NEVER draft receivers with that body type no matter how good they look at the combine. Royal and Knox had the best combines in their respective years to my untrained eye, but do not fit the 6'1"-6'4" 210lb WR that Dallas wants.

True, but you also need to draft players that fit the system you run. For instance, the last thing we would ever draft is a defensive end shaped like Dwight Freeney (granted, a guy like him can switch positions in our scheme, but hopefully my point isn't lost). I don't think it's wrong for teams to draft players whose skill sets fit what they do.

Does a DeSean Jackson type do what we want out of our receivers? I can't see why he couldn't, especially since Terry Glenn once played here, but maybe there's a reason we want a certain body type?

the same Jackson who prematurely celebrated a TD against us last season and placed the ball at the one yard line.....almost costing his team 7 points. Lucky for him, both our safeties were too stupid to merely go pick up the ball and start running.

How flamed could have gotten? You get in like 3 posts per month.

just another fast moron playing football....i wouldnt want him on our team...he is too small.....he is too stupid ...and he is an Eagle so get off his jock

He's in his second year. I don't think the argument that "he's too small" has been disproved at this point. Right now he's running away from guys. Wait until guys start giving him licks. Will his body hold up? He wouldn't be the first speed demon to start his career off well and suffer before his prime.

I'm not a fan. Those boneheaded showboating plays he does? You know where he is running in for a score and drops the football showboating? Not a fan. Just not. Not that type of mentality. You know the type Mike Singletary talks about? "Can't play with 'em.."? I don't think the Cowboys need players like that.

the kid has superb talent and ability, no doubt....unfortunately he is a "LOOK AT ME" type of player. no thank you.

Oh, and I doubt he changes...he was that way in HS, at the Army All-America Game, at Cal, and now in Philly.
