DeSean Jackson

Didn't Desean Jackson say he didn't want to take any more passes up the middle because of getting hit? ...I think last year?

Either way. That whole group is a bunch of cry-babies.

Yup.. that and he shouldn't have to return punts he said too.

Jackson runs one route and returns punts. His kind are a dime a dozen.

Wow is that ignorant.

Here's hoping we can find one of those dime a dozen guys someday.

Ya know why the Eagles offense isn't the same this year? Because Jackson has taken the year off. He makes it go. They're not the same without him.

Just the fact that you say "he's taken the year off" shows what kind of a player he is.. he's garbage and we have 2 WR's already who are better than him, and even Robinson has played better since hes been a Cowboys than Jackson has this year.

The Eagles offense doesn't need him. He's not even the best WR on that team, and they're more than fine with Shady, Vick, Maclin, and Celek. Their problem is not having an OL that can block anybody.

At worst he will be franchised.

Why would they franchise him at a cost of $10M just to be a malcontent for another year.

I think Andy Reid knows from his TO-experience that he is better off without DJax. He already got the best and cheapest years out of him.

I really don't think there is much of a trade market for overpriced, fragile, 1-trick WRs like him. Heck, the Steelers only got a 5th round pick for Santonio Holmes just a couple of years ago.

I think Jackson is about to learn his services aren't as valuable as he thinks they are. I don't see anyone giving him more than $6-7M per year.

Or a defense that can stop anybody. Eagles have several problems.

1. Vick has been exposed. He's great with his legs, but he's an at best mediocre pocket QB.

2. Offensive line as you mentioned sucks.

3. Defensively they can't stop anybody. They have some very talented players especially in the secondary, but they don't fit well. Nnamdi is a cover guy, DRC is a cover guy while Samuel is just a guy who gets pick, but can't cover well. Their middle line backers are horrible.

I was talking about only their offense in that post, but yes, clearly their defense is a problem.. and it starts and ends with who they decided to have run the D.

Not absolving Jackson of any blame, but this is another mess the Eagles brought on themselves.

I wouldn't feel too good about watching Steve Smith making 4x my salary sitting on the bench.

Eagles have no problems paying other teams' players.

I'd take Steve Smith over Jackson if he was healthy.

Think maybe they don't want to pay him because of things other than what he does on the field? Maybe..

Which he isn't. But even if he was, I'd take Jackson. His skill-set opens up the entire field and keeps a defense honest.

Like single-handedly winning several games for them?

Jackson is a jerk, but there were no issues with him until the Eagles decided to pay everyone except him.

I'd be pissed off about that too.

Before the comma, true. After the comma, false.

Show me where that is the case and I'll gladly change my mind.

I've never read anything about the Eagles having issues with Jackson until they made the decision to pay everybody but him.

No no, i've posted the articles several times now in different threads, but being around the Philly area, the local media in 2010 wrote several times about how much of a distraction he was in the locker room with his contract situation before his holdout at the beginning of 2011. He repeatedly was on his phone texting his agent during official team meetings and functions, had his camp tell the coaching staff that he shouldn't have to run routes over the middle of the field or return punts because it was too risky for him, and disobeyed his coach on several occasions, most notably the warm ups before i think the Chicago game. Anyway, it was all to the point where he was not only angering the organization, but also his teammates.. and the same seems to be happening again this year. The guy is a selfish, childish individual.. and i doubt he ever gets an extension.

IMO, he's not even worth the distraction, especially when you have a better WR on your team who produces more consistently anyway.

I would agree with you that I doubt he ever gets an extension from the Eagles. I think this is his last year in Philadelphia.

And I don't disagree that he's a selfish guy who looks out for himself first and foremost.

That said, I think that - much like the Terrell Owens situation - that the Eagles handling of the situation contributed to the problem.

IMO, he's not even worth the distraction, especially when you have a better WR on your team who produces more consistently anyway.

I think they missed him badly this past Sunday - on offense and special teams and I think that they will miss his on-field contributions when he's gone.

The Eagles offense - Maclin included - isn't the same without Jackson's speed element forcing defenses to cover the entire field.
