Just not a very smart organization. Nothing about Watson was worth that trade. Desperation makes you do stupid things. It was one of the worst trades in NFL history at the time it occurred. Not because of the off the field issues, although those obviously didn't help. It just keeps getting worse as time progresses. The Browns will be near the bottom in salary cap space for the next several years.
With the AFC North teams bunched up with records at or between 7-2 and 5-4, the division title looks to go down to the wire. This is why I keep saying a lot can happen to impact potential playoff teams by the end of the season.
It was astonishingly bad at the time and gets worse every day.It was one of the worst trades in NFL history at the time it occurred. Not because of the off the field issues, although those obviously didn't help. It just keeps getting worse as time progresses. The Browns will be near the bottom in salary cap space for the next several years.
The cap is supposed to go up substantially the next few years and they probably will not sign garrett again after his current contract ends in 2026.. So realistically the next three years will be tough for them.It was one of the worst trades in NFL history at the time it occurred. Not because of the off the field issues, although those obviously didn't help. It just keeps getting worse as time progresses. The Browns will be near the bottom in salary cap space for the next several years.
Only Mahoones would be worth all that. Not one person outside of the Browns front office thought what they did to get Watson was a good idea at the time. Nothing we've seen to this point would change anybody's mind.
