Watson, a two-time winner of the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award, was in Fort Worth on Monday for a ceremony recognizing his achievements.

During his speech, Watson told coach Jason Garrett that the Cowboys should make room for him even though they have rookie sensation Dak Prescott and veteran Tony Romo currently on the roster.

“I like being back in Fort Worth Texas. I told you I would be back here. I told coach Garrett if I’m back here, you have to draft me,” Watson said, while looking directly at Garrett and drawing big laughter and applause from the audience. “I know there are a lot of Dallas Cowboys fans. Tony Romo is healthy. Dak, I’m a huge fan. Love that man. Had the privilege to get to know him this year. He’s been successful.

“I did my part, you have to do your part.”

Garrett’s response.

He just smiled.

Watson led Clemson to a national championship with a 35-31 win over top-ranked Alabama.

The Cleveland Browns have the No. 1 overall pick. The Dallas Cowboys have the 28th overall pick.

Watson said he’ll see Garrett at the NFL Combine in March.

“The Browns do need a quarterback,” Watson said, drawing more laughter from the crowd. “You can trade both of them (Prescott and Romo). They need two.”

I think he was much less impressive at Clemson than Dak was at MSU, plus we already have to move Romo, not worth the trouble. He sort of reminds me of a slightly smarter, smaller Akili Smith. Waste of time. We need to biuld around Dak.

They aren't really being serious.....are they? And yes, you are correct. You have a franchise QB so you stick with him.

Whoa, it sounds like he's liable to say anything to avoid getting stuck with Cleveland in the draft. I really can't say as blame him. ;)

The above is just baffling to me. Please don't tell me Dak was more impressive because he played in the mighty SEC. Deshaun led his team to back to back national championship games, actually won one and was a Heisman finalist twice. Lost three games in his entire career. Never has been in legal trouble. Although a really good college career, Dak didn't come close to these college achievements, although their ability to lead and galvanize a team are very similar.

I admit that I am a Clemson fan and grad. But I also wanted Dak last year in the draft because I knew his story and just thought he was a winner. However, the draft gurus on this site and others said he was no better than a tight end prospect and/or a developmental qb. Same talk going on with Deshaun. Now, Dak is the best thing next to Brady. I laugh at all of this because no one knows what is going to happen once players hit the league. Being in the right situation is key.

BTW, I wouldn't trade Dak for Deshaun.

I don't know anything about the player...but you are absolutely correct about already having a Franchise QB.

I'm all for the NFC East QB's all staying in place.
We have their numbers.
Wentz - dink and Dunk.
Cousins - Turnovers at wrong time.
Eli - Pressure him and ball is up for grabs.

I don't care where he played, Dak is better and I never cared for Jackson, he might be a great NFL qb, I'm no scout as you can tell. I just like what we have. I fallow the the mountain west conference, I couldn't care less about the sec or acc or any big schools, just my opinion from what I've seen.

Watson proved himself in college, this is not college. There have been many top ranked QB leaving for the NFL who have busted. Dallas got a kid who showed he can handle the pressure of the NFL and the pressure of playing QB for the Cowboys (Not an easy task) and did so at a pro bowl level. I expect Dak to be the QB for many years in Dallas. You would think Cowboy fans would understand how hard it is to hit on a QB who played to the level of Dak... I guess some will never learn

Who is Jackson?

No one said that Dak isn't better. He's actually played in the league. My problem with your post was comparing their college careers.

Also, I said I wouldn't trade Dak. No way, no how. Again, he's actually played in the league. I like what we have in Dak too, wanted him last year, but let's not pretend that the scouts or gurus knew what they were talking about last year when it came to Dak. Let's also acknowledge that he landed in the PERFECT situation and took advantage of it when others clearly could not have (the 2015 season). He has a history of that. He has the intangibles that are too often overlooked.

I think we agree that none of us are scouts, but many pretend to be. ;-)
