I know the NFL had it's problems this year and I understand the sentiment that the league is "losing people" with the money grab and Goodell's handling of issues. But--

It's still the best reality show on television and nothing is a close second. It was the highest rated Super Bowl and most watched American television show of all time.

During the regular season many of us had fantasy football teams, some of us laid money on bets, some spent thousands of dollars on tickets and travel and all of us camped out in front of the TV, sometimes all day on Sundays, not to mention the time spent in the CZ.

The playoffs were gut wrenching, maddening, euphoric, unbelievable and incomprehensible. Really, what else in life makes you scream and swear one moment then jump around like a little kid and hug strangers the next. It helped all of us that the Cowboys were in the mix this year and the anticipation for next year will ramp up emotions even more.

There are problems with the National Football League - but you will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I can't believe it's over - I can't wait for next season.

The reason why this Super Bowl was great was because the football itself was excellent. The refs largely stayed out of the way and you saw two teams who didn't really beat themselves (other than the terrible call). There was no controversy, no cheap shots, no trickery or fluke plays...just two good teams lining up and playing. That was what the league could be, week in and week out.

I agree.

The best "non-ref'd" game of the year.

They let 'em play. I t was refreshing.

True. In a regular season game, you would have had about 3 more PI/pick plays called. that's the problem. you should let them play all the time.

To me and I may be getting old, but the NFL is loosing it's luster.

In every walk of life and every company there are bad people and people who make mistakes. The NFL is no different from anywhere else, they just happen to be in the media and they happen to have 60 guys for every team were as someone like the NBA has 12. You do the math.

Regarding picks here's Carroll's comment on the game ending int/route. Notice he uses the word " shielded" instead of what it is a pick..

"Really the way the route generally works is the back receiver gets shielded off so that the play can get thrown to the guy trailing," Carroll said, "And it's worked really well, it's been a really nice concept."

I didn't watch a single minute of the Super Bowl. I just saw the highlights before bed cause friends kept bugging me about the Wilson pick and I hadn't seen it.

The sight of a football still makes me want to vomit.

The NFL is not losing viewers because of off the filed shenanigans but because they tried to cover up and sweep away the concussion issues. Doing that put the onus on parents who right now do not feel that football is worth it, when you no longer have kids playing it you have less "die hard" football fans and also end up with "weaker" talent.

I thought the first half was a sleep fest. I enjoyed the second half though. I'm still in disbelieve about the end. Made it exciting I guess.

I don't think the NFL is losing viewers because of the "cover up" of concussions. Even if the NFL had been transparent about the issue, many parents would have taken the same position, i.e., that football is too dangerous for their children.

Be that as it may, the NFL isn't losing viewers. The NFL is more popular than ever. The controversies aren't leading to a decline in viewers. In fact, I would argue it's adding to viewership as non-traditional viewers are tuning in to see what the fuss is all about.

Let's face it: We may whine and complain about calls, bad refs, cheating, etc., but I don't know anyone on this board who has sworn off football, i.e., "That's it! I'm not going to watch another Cowboys game because of the Dez Bryant call!"

Face it: You're hooked! I'm hooked! We all our hooked! So we'll moan and complain and swear we're done with the NFL and make good on that threat when the season is done. But when the draft returns, we'll be at our television sets watching intently and when the regular season approaches, we'll re-up our DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions, put on our wannbe GM hats as we draft our favorite players on our fantasy football teams and polish the old remote control and punch in the channels that deliver the games that thrill us so much.

This is what the NFL banks on, and we keep delivering year after year after year.

I believe the football game that the NFL delivers is the greatest game ever conceived by mankind. IMO, it use to be better but it is still an amazing spectacle to behold.

I don't like the idea of London or any other European team being a part of the league. And I don't like the idea of narrowing the distance between the goal posts... I hope that never comes into the real game. I understand some of the rule changes that I don't like were made for the sake of safety so I can live with them. Despite the tampering with the game, it's never been more popular. All in all, the NFL is still the best.

NFL is just the perfect balance and the fact that our guys only play once a week makes it better.

I'm a hardcore football junkie. If I ever said I was done with the game I'd only be lying to myself. I can't wait for next season. I like other sports, but it's just not the same. I don't get the despair, the gutted feeling from a loss or the euphoria of a big victory from my other teams in sports. I also don't watch other teams in the sports nearly to the extent I do in the NFL.

They got me for life.
