I'm hearing a lot of people talking about him as a trade option and i was wondering if this was just wishful thinking or if maybe we have some basis to this dream. Anybody have an articles to give me?

How is he a trade option?

Detroit has him locked up until next year. Who is going to trade for Roy Williams unless he is re-willing to do his contract? Your running the risk of losing him to free-agency the following year anyways.

i dont know wut we can work out, really. but it does seem like dallas' will be bringing in a top number 2 or possibly number 1 reciever. to accompany owens. if we let t. glenn go...

i dont think it'll be R. williams tho....hes under contract i think?

There was an article awhile back about him not being happy down there and that he loved Texas. However, Roy Williams has since denied that he wants out of Detroit, but that could be just damage control.

ahh, that makes since.

well i'd definitely be all trading one of 1sts and carpenter for him and giving him an extension. detriot is loaded at WR and is short at LB, so they would have to at least consider it.

Any thoughts of WR Roy Williams are my fault. I mentioned him a couple of months ago when it was speculated that the Cardinals would look to trade WR Larry Fitzgerald. To the best of my knowledge, nothing from any reputable media source has come out saying he's an option for Dallas.

I happen to know that he would love to play for Dallas and the Lions spent a lot of money on WR this year with the contract of Furrey and drafting Calvin Johnson.

I believe they will look to trade him. I do not know that they will. Just reading the tea leaves if you will.

If you are Jerry and both are available via trade for the same compensation, which do you take, Roy Williams or Larry Fitzgerald? I think the Cowboys could go without a high draft pick WR if we could get either one next year.

teams do it all the time. Especially if said player is known to want to go elsewhere.

Its no secret that Roy Williams' heart is in Texas. Plain and simple that guy wants to be in Texas. IMO, Detroit as NO CHANCE of signing him. He will go somewhere closer to home.

From Detroits position, it makes sense to trade the guy because he most likely will not sign with them next offseason.

And obviously no team would trade for him if they couldn't reach a deal. Most times, teams are allowed to negotiate before the trade. I'd gladly ship the Dallas 1st rounder for Williams. Opposite TO, he would be a god.

I might go Fitz based on injury history alone. Williams always seems to miss some time. Fitz has missed a few but not as many as Williams.

Fitz is also a year younger. When locking a guy up long term, getting someone who has more time ahead is key.

I was listening to 670 The Score today and they said that WR Bernard Berrian
of the Bears would probably be leaving Chicago and that Dallas was where he wanted to be.

Good points. I can see lots of options when Glenn retires. Hopefully he can play next year before retirement.

I am not so sure that Dallas would be interested give other options.

True.

But Dallas needs a speed receiver and Berrian is faster than a speeding bullet. :starspin

True but I don't think he comes anywhere close to Glenn in talent and if Glenn is to be replaced they need to find an equal replacement.

I'd be all for it. He can stretch the field. Any time a team can get a valuable player and save draft picks, its a good scenario IMO.

Drafting good WR's is just so much cheaper than going the FA route. Too bad we are not very good at that. I mean, who is the best WR we have drafted since Harper? Jimmy Smith doesn't count since we didn't keep him.

I completely agree but a number 2 received as good as Glenn and another running back as good as Barber would make and keep this offense in the top 5 in the NFL for years to come. If they have to go FA to get what they need I would have no complaints. They seem to be getting close to the overall quality and depth of the 90s team.

Detroit might look to trade Williams IF they let Martz go, I think their head coach isn't a big fan of all the passing going on...
