I'm a Yankee fan...and I have to say, I enjoyed this.

I am SOOOO sick of them going out and buying every player available. It's too much.

I didn't mind when they spent 25% more than other teams but this is just nutz.

They need to learn how to stop throwing money at problems and manage their organiztion like every other team does.

As a side note, I HATED the A-Rod trade from day one. I've enjoyed watching him; the world's biggest choke artist.

Yo.

Ya see, I started rooting for the Yanks in 1965. They were dreadful awful.

But it was MUCH better than this garbage.

Funny thing. Most people will bust on me "Ooooh, tough teams you root for, the Yankees and the Cowboys"

BUT...I started rooting for both teams when they simply weren't very good.

But this gazillion dollar pay roll is embarrassing.

How's things in the desert?

Oh and btw, it's "Heeeeeeeeeer's Johhhhhhhhny"

We can't enunciate out here either. I have no room to talk smack in baseball being a D-Backs fan, but it always pleases me when the Yanks lose. If I were Brian Cashman a lot of hitters would be goen in trades for pitching. That's your achilles heel up there, your pitching staff is too old and broken down.

The real achilles heel is that they have ZERO heart.

Other than Jeter, Posada, Bernie and Matsui this team is as gutless as it gets.

Back in the glory years, they had O'Neill...Brosius...Tino Martinez...Jeter....Posada...Bernie...Chad Curtis...etc.

The team has taken on A-Rod's personality. Gutless.

I'm a Yankee fan and that comment is embarrassing. Give me a break, no person that is a Yankee fan enjoyed them getting beat. If you did, you're not a fan.

Since Cashman took over a more prominent role and the Tampa faction had a diminished role, things are heading in the right direction. We did spend alot on Damon last year, but we needed a CF in a bad way. We held on to our top prospects during the trade deadline this past summer and we actually have some good prospects in our system now. We've had a couple of really good drafts in a row. We have some real good pitching prospects in the system that will start arriving sometime in '07 and beyond. This team will get younger in the next few years and the payroll will drop with Sheffield and Mussina coming off the books. We have some real good pitching prospects in the system that will start arriving sometime in '07 and beyond. Mussina may be back next year, but not at $16million a year. I'm glad Cashman is now in total control, but if these rumors that Torre is out and Piniella is in are true, I don't think that would be a Cashman move and more of a Steinbrenner move and I don't like that.

So he's the only reason why the Yanks lost. Plenty of other guys didn't show up either, but lets just blame A-Rod. He played poorly again in the playoffs, but why did we lose in 2001? Why did we lose in 2002? Why did we lose in 2003? A-Rod wasn't even there yet and we were tanking in the playoffs and World Series. Who do you blame for those losses?

All this proves is that its really difficult to win a World Series. Throwing money around will get you to the playoffs in a 162 game season, but once the playoffs come around, many more variables are involved in those short series.

Stop blaming A-Rod for the Yanks failures. He may be part of it, but there's more to it.

I love when people say we need more Paul O'Neill's, more guys like Tino Martinez, more guys like Scott Brosius. If those guys were on this team, we still wouldn't win. We won in '96, '98, '99 and '00 because of pitching. Andy Pettitte, David Cone, John Wetteland, Jeff Nelson, Mike Stanton, El Duque, David Wells, Roger Clemens etc.

Its going to be hard to trade away any of those bats with their salaries. Sheffield can walk, but Giambi, Cano, Jeter, A-Rod, Posada, Matsui and Damon probably aren't going anywhere. We do have some really good pitching prospects coming up, but I'm not sure if they will be ready in April 2007. Maybe mid-season. Cashman has done a good job the last couple years of building the farm system, we'll see what happens. We're stuck with Randy Johnson for one more year.

Sorry, I'm a Yankee fan and I enjoyed it.

Gripe all you want, that's a fact.

I've been a fan for 40 years.

The point is, they needed something like this as a wake up call. So for me, losing this series is just fine.

And as far as A-Rod goes...I'm not the only one who feels this way...

http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseb...008,0,5069564.column?coll=ny-sports-headlines

We needed a centerfielder in a "bad way" because we traded for A-Rod and didn't want to spend the money for Beltran. That's a fact, he actually lessened his contract requests in order to play for the Yankees.

So basically, the team could have had Beltran AND Soriano instead of A-Rod.
That's a friggin' no brainer.

And I'm glad you love when people say we need more guys like O'Neill...The point was, we need guys with guts. I just stopped after listing the guys I did, uh, hence the "etc." that I wrote. Johnson has no guts...Wells did. Mussina is a choke artist also. Pettitte wasn't. El Duque was the best money pitcher we've had. Wright is a bum. My point is, those guys had guts. This team doesn't.

Come on, they've had this wakeup call every year since 2001. Were you happy when the D-Backs beat them in Game 7 of the World Series? How could they lose that series with all your guys like O'Neill, Brosius, Tino, Jeter, Posada etc? That's a lot of guts and no ring. Were you happy the next year when the Angles beat them in the ALDS? What about the next year when they lost to the Marlins in the WS. The next year when they collapsed against the Red Sox, did that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? What about last year against the Angels? So why did you enjoy them losing only this year? Go root for the Mets.

Wow, quoting a NY tabloid paper as gospel? They'll throw anything out there and see if it sticks. Have you been paying attention to the firstorm brewing all year? They've been saying that for awhile now, so maybe they'll be right one year.

I'll take pitching over guts anyday. Did the Tigers have guts or pitching? Did the Yanks have pitching in this series? Whatever.

the yankees are taking a turn for the worst. the clubhouse is a circus due to blips between a-rod and jeter, sheff was bad mouthin joe torre after gm 4, the pitching is horrendous to say the least, and overall, the yankees aren't a team anymore, just a bunch of guys who wanna get paid. in the championship years from '96,'98','99,'2000, they didn't have a bunch of all stars, just a bunch of guys who wanted to win more than anything in the world. the days of paul o'neill and tino martinez are over, and have been replaced with big payroll hounds like abreu and sheffield. its sad to say, but they just don't want it anymore. they're gonna move into that new stadium which is gonna be a rich man's playground. the yankees aren't really "the yankees" anymore, just an organization that is slowly headed down the wrong path with blinders on. they need to drastically change their ways if they wanna win another title before the house that ruth built gets demolished.
